Disadvantages:

  • Transition Challenges: Migrating from IPv4 to IPv6 requires significant effort and planning. Dual-stack implementations (running both IPv4 and IPv6 concurrently) are common during the transition period.
  • Limited Compatibility: Not all devices and services support IPv6 yet.
  • Complexity: The 128-bit addressing scheme and other features can be initially more complex to understand.
