The concept of Artificial Intelligence is an innovative step into the once-impossible, as Theodore Levitt once said, "Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things."

The evolution of AI can be traced back to Alan Turing, a mathematician. In his 1950 paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence," Turing proposed the idea that machines could use available information and reasoning to solve problems and make decisions, similar to humans. However, technical limitations at the time prevented Turing's concept from being fully realized.

Turing's proposal later became known as The Turing Test, which evaluates whether a machine can demonstrate human intelligence by engaging in a conversation with a human without being detected as a machine.

How does the test work?

Essentially, the test is conducted in an interrogation room where a judge interacts with two parties, a person and a computer. Both the person and the computer are hidden from the judge's view. The judge then tries to identify which is the human and which is the computer based on the quality of their conversation. It's an intriguing test indeed.

Despite its significance in evaluating the effectiveness of AI projects, the Turing test has several drawbacks. It lacks a precise definition of intelligence, requires a controlled environment to be successful, and is not flexible enough to accommodate evolving technological advancements.

Decades later, the Turing test remains relevant and continues to be a significant factor in the development of AI programs. Artificial Intelligence has evolved to better accommodate the changes that come with human nature.

The Thing Called AI; A Series

Episode 1: Introduction
The term, “Artificial Intelligence” has indeed made waves in the tech field, drawing the attention of people from all walks of life.

According to https://www.wikipedia.org Artificial Intelligence, or AI, as it is widely called,“...is intelligence exhibited by machines, particularly computer systems”. The concept of AI entails computer systems that possess the ability to carry out complex tasks that, historically, only a human could do. Such tasks include reasoning, making decisions, and applying such decisions to problem-solving. In simple terms, AI is the science of enabling machines to fit in the shoes of humans.

The technology of AI has made waves in the human world, evolving with the tide of time and to an appreciable extent, meeting the insatiable needs of our contemporary society. AI has made notable impacts in the various spheres of life including the medical field, the educational field, the agricultural sector, etc. It is safe to say here that AI is Tech's most popular birth and this offspring is just getting started with humans.
In this series, I will be walking you down AIville as we will be learning, unlearning, and relearning the thing called AI. Also, we will get to see if this “panacea” has any drawbacks or inconsistencies and also discuss its most likely impact on our green home in times to come.

The Thing Called WordPress; Tech's Notable Progress Into Evolution

In this article, I will be giving you insights on the what, when, and how of WordPress.

•What
WordPress is a Web Content Management System (CMS) that was created as a tool to publish blogs. However, over time, WordPress now supports publishing other web content including mailing lists and internet forums, conventional websites, media galleries, websites for online courses, etc. This goes to say that almost every website that we come across can and, most likely, was created using WordPress.
•When
Now, WordPress did not just pop up on our screens or fall from the heavens. WordPress was released on May 27, 2003, and was installed on approximately 2,000 blogs. It will surprise you to know that it was developed by an American blogger, Matt Mullenweg, and a British blogger, Mike Little.
Coming to the present, WordPress has not failed in ensuring that the Web CMS is refined enough to fit in with the modern trends of the field.

•How
I bet you are curious as to how this thing called WordPress works. That's obviously why you're still reading so I'll tell you.
WordPress is an Open Source Content Management System that stores content and enables a user to create and publish web pages using only a domain and a hosting service. In essence, it is a no-code system which has come to broaden the future of tech. Shocking, right? WordPress is a CMS with a beginner-friendly interface, making it easy for users to freely navigate through and do their work with a sense of ease. It will also interest you to know that WordPress supports all media types, giving users the freedom to customize their projects to their taste using any combination of text, images, and videos.
Other benefits of WordPress include:

It is free to use. You
however, will need to pay a
third-party hosting provider to make your website
available online.

WordPress is flexible being
that users can fine-tune
their websites to adapt to
their changing needs.

WordPress Themes offer
multiple options for users
to use in customizing their
website in both appearance
and functions.

WordPress is indeed a versatile software that the tech community is grateful for. Its flexibility has given it an edge over other CMS platforms.

The Final Episode
It has been an amazing journey and I appreciate your being with me this far. Moving from Stage 1 to the final stage, jumping over every hurdle that we came across, has proved that progress, alone, is winning.
Isaac Ojerumu, a Nigerian undergraduate and who's story we've journeyed through, is indeed very passionate about Tech. Having interviewed him, I got to realize that he is determined and dogged. His determination was first tried when he came across the scholarship offer and realized that it was an unpaid program. There and then, he laid his priorities straight and knowledge topped the list.
In the course of the scholarship program, there were several challenges that Isaac came across and he just had to overcome all for the sake of progress. Alongside these challenges were benefits. Programs of such offer participants the opportunity to get acquainted with impressive and productive personalities that could stick for a lifetime.
At the initial part of the program, tasks that were awarded to Isaac and his co-participants were what he described as a walkover being that he already had a valid experience in Tech. Moving on, midway, the going went tough and the tough just had to get going. Tasks got more demanding and teamwork was set in motion.
At the end of it all, Isaac, with other participants, came out victorious with every bit of knowledge that they gained in the course of the program. Determination and hard work paid off.
This series is an encouragement to those that have decided to take their career seriously. Concluding, in the words of Issac: “know what you want to do and follow through with it. ”
This is me saying a big thank you to everyone that has journeyed with me thus far. Thank you for your reads and encouragement, you have been one of the major reasons for the survival of my career as a Technical writer. Thank you.
This is where we draw the curtain. Yes, by God's grace, it's a wrap.
Please, let's get in touch on Medium; Zini Zada, and Twitter; Zada_Zini

Task 9
Stage 9 is what I would love to call judgment day.😂 This was the stage in which the fate of interns that made it this far was determined. It was during this stage that groups got to see the result of their accumulated labour in building projects.
The ninth and final task of the HNG internship was for the groups that interns were shared into in stage 3 to carry out a thorough check and review of the projects that they built. Team Axle, Isaac's team, carried out a detailed review of their project; The Engineering 360. After reviewing, the errors that were found were corrected, necessary addition and omission were made and a final test run of the project, an app, was carried out.
After rounding up with the test, Team Axle made a demo of the app and forwarded it to their mentors for scrutiny and assessment. Interns whose projects were deemed effective enough were declared finalists.
Yes, after seven weeks and three days; 52 days of hard work, determination, perseverance, and teamwork, interns that proved to be effective, efficient, and hardworking received the fruits of their labour. The reason why developers like Isaac joined this internship has finally been fulfilled.
Finalists were congratulated for a job well done. Offers were presented to them as a reward for their hard work and diligence;

Merging all products built in the course of the internship together as a single company and making finalists co-owners of it.

A paid-internship opportunity at hotel.ng. This offer was exclusive to PHP and Python developers.

Returning to one's life before the internship. Funny, right?

Finalists were also made members of the HNG Network. This gives them access to amazing opportunities in their Tech career.
Dear reader, it's the final stage of the internship.🥳 This is me saying a big thank you to you for sticking with me on this. Although it's the last stage, this is not the final episode of my series. I will be releasing one more episode which will be the icing on this nine-layer chocolate cake of mine.🤭 I hope to see you on the next page.

Task 8
Interns that made it to stage 8 were requested to submit every work they've done thus far in the internship, using links, to Mark Essien, the chief organizer of the HNG internship. He was to intensively review the work done by each intern so far in the internship.
Interns were served forms that they were to fill out individually. This was the medium through which they submitted their works. Slots that were to be filled included;

Name

Email

Slack ID

Interns, by whose work the chief organizer was impressed were promoted to the final stage; stage 9.

Task 6
Progressing from the previous stage, each member of the Backend Track was paired with an intern from the Frontend Track. This partnership was established to foster progress in building their project; The Engineering 360. Isaac was partnered with Williams, a Frontend developer.
The teamwork between Isaac, a member of team Axle’s Backend Track, and a Frontend developer from the same team was responsible, to an extent, for the successful delivering of the company’s controller that was built in stage 5.
Two endpoints in the department controller were handed over to Isaac; deleteDepartment($id) and updateDepartment(Request $request, $id).

He was to ensure that the endpoint he worked on was functional on the Frontend. This he did with the help of Bolu, an intern in the Backend Track.

Upon completion of this task, and meeting the REQUIRED POINTS, Isaac was doubly promoted to stage 8. He also got the benefit of making good friends; Bolu and Williams, in the course of carrying out the task in stage 6. This is one of the advantages that internship programs of such have to offer.

Task 5
New tasks were awarded to members of the Backend Track in Team Axle, individually. Isaac’s task was to work on the project's; The Engineering 360, controller.
A controller plays the role of the directive traffic between views and models in an MVC Framework.
This controller in question comprised four endpoints;

getCompanies(): This endpoint gives users access to all the companies featured on the software.

2.UpdateCompany(CompanyRequest $request, $company_id): It allows the admin to carry out the act of editing the company’s details that are displayed on the software.

byCompanyId($id): This carries out the function of searching for companies on the software by their ID.

4.getCompanyByUserId($user_id): This enables a user to search for a company using his\her own ID.

After finishing off with the controller and its endpoints, Isaac pushed his work to Github’s repository.
The Everyday Life of an HNG Intern; Isaac Ojerumu’s Story

Task 4
Task 4 turned out to be a continuation of task 3. Interns remained in their groups and the tasks remained to build their products, collectively. Team Axle's task remained to build The Engineering 360-I introduced this in the previous episode. Teammates carried out more detailed work in a bid to make the project a successful one.
The technology that was employed at the front-end in building the product was React; a free and open-source front-end JavaScript library for building user interfaces based on UI components -Wikipedia. The back-end chose to adopt the use of PHP Laravel; an open-source PHP framework that plays the role of a web development source, as they saw it as more favorable in building the project.
In the course of building The Engineering 360, the Back-end Track got to collaborate with Team Github to fulfill their task.
Axle's Back-end Track comprised 17 programmers and each was awarded a task which they were to build individually, all in the spirit of teamwork. Isaac's task was to build the Register End-point which was responsible for the verification and authentication of new users of the product.

After carrying out his task, Isaac pushed his code to Team Github for his team lead to merge with that of others.
Team members that proved to be effective progressed to the next stage.

Dear reader, thank you for sticking with me on this journey. I hope that this episode and the series as a whole have been insightful, educative, and inspiring. See you on the next page.

Task 3.
In carrying out this task, it was demanded of interns to join various teams. The tasks awarded to each team were accomplished by sheer teamwork. Each team comprised a backend engineer, a frontend engineer, a product manager, marketers, and designers. Teammates were to give feedback on recent developments to their team lead.
Each team was to build a product that carries out specific functions. Team Axel, Isaac's team, built the “Engineering 360 Skill Evaluator.” This product performs the function of testing the efficiency of employees' skills. It assesses how effectively an employee carries out his/her task. The role played by members in the backend track was team planning for database architecture and schema.

For interns to progress to the next stage, they had to take on active roles in accomplishing their team's tasks. They were evaluated individually.

Task 2
Create a (post) API endpoint that can carry out the operation.
An endpoint is like a calculator
In this article, I'll be bringing to light the step-by-step process involved in setting up a (post) API endpoint.

The image above is the framework of the task that Isaac carried out.

Line 3: Defines the header for the API to strictly receive JSON data.
Line 4: This is a function in PHP that is used to read the contents of the file. It is also used to make HTTP requests. In this text, the code reads the file coming in from the API.
Line 5: This decodes the API's request.
Line 7-9: These lines of code are conditional statements, that is, if this comes up, do this or that. It checks for empty requests. If any request is empty, the Slack username, the result, and the operation would be sent back empty.
Line 10: This line returns the Slack username, result, and operation type if empty.
Line 13-15: Assigns the request from x and y to the variable;

$r_type, $r_x, $r_y

Line 17-29: This is a control statement. It checks for the operation type and enables the programmer to perform different actions based on different conditions. Say, for instance, if the operation type is addition, it will perform an addition operation between x and y. The same goes for subtraction and multiplication.
Line 31: This returns the final result if any of the conditions I have stated earlier are met.
Line 34: This final line returns a JSON response of the report.

I have spelled out the entire process involved in carrying out the task. Fully accomplishing this task takes interns to the next stage; stage 3. As you've noticed, the higher an intern goes, the tougher it gets. This is where the principle of hard work, passion, and consistency in the Tech field comes in.
Again, I hope that you find this educative and inspiring.
See you in the next episode.
