Creating Apk for React Native Project

APK (Android Application Package) - An app file for Android which is present in the package format used as a standalone app.

Set up

To start, we need to eject the expo environment from the project. Write the following command in the command prompt:

expo eject

Now, we need to run the command:

 expo build:android

Further, the following permissions will be asked; follow the steps below:

? Would you like to proceed? Yes
√ Choose the build type you would like: » apk

The build will then start taking place. While it might take some time, you can monitor your build by following the link given under "You can monitor the build at" with all the necessary details about the build.

HacktoberFest Experience

I completed my #Hacktoberfest 2020 challenge by submitting all of the four (+1) pull requests! It was my first time participating in the event, and I had a lot of fun being a contributor and as a maintainer. I'm looking forward to involving myself more in Open-Source projects.

What I Learned From Hacktoberfest

I opened a repository that accepted all the contributions that can help the students/Graduates to prepare for interviews/internships/fellowships. The repository consists of programs on different data structures and algorithms, questions from different interviews and online judges, basic programming problems, etc, in all the possible programming languages including Python, C++, C, Java, etc.

A Message For Contributors

What I learned as a maintainer that can help others contribute efficiently is to write a clear README.md/CONTRIBUTING.md explaining all the necessary steps and commands to follow in order to have a smooth Pull Request experience. Not only do the participants participate more, but it also helps the maintainers maintain their projects without any hassle.

Creating a new Database using PostgreSQL

The following steps are only meant for Windows Users.

How to connect the database server to Windows

Click on the Windows start button and Navigate to PostgreSQL 13.
From there, open the SQL shell and follow the steps demonstrated below to create a new database on Postgresql:

You can create the database with the name of your choice. In the above shell:

\l is used to list all the databases created. You can easily see your newly created database at the bottom (testdb).
\c connects you to your database "testbase".

And with that, your new database has been created!
