      <title>143 Users, Zero Support Emails: What the Silence Means</title>

&lt;p&gt;Not a single one emailed me.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;No bug reports. No feature requests. No "this broke" or "how do I use this." The inbox is empty. The Apify message system is empty. If you didn't look at the run logs, you'd think no one was using the product at all.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I used to interpret silence as failure. Now I think it's the most useful signal I've received.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Numbers Behind the Quiet
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here's the breakdown across my Korean data scrapers on Apify:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The overall runs-per-user ratio sits around 108. But that average hides something more interesting.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;When I break it down by actor:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Two completely different user behaviors. The naver-news users are running pipelines — automated, scheduled, high-volume. The musinsa users are exploring — probably pulling data once or twice to evaluate fit.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Neither group emailed me.&lt;/p&gt;

  Why Silence Is Different for Developer Tools
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Consumer apps live and die by support volume. If users hit a wall, they complain or they churn. Support tickets are your early warning system.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Developer tools work differently.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;When a developer hits an error with a consumer app, they wait for support. When a developer hits an error with an API, they read the error message. If the error message is clear, they fix it themselves. If it's not clear, they might open a ticket — but more likely, they just try another tool.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This means the silence I'm seeing isn't "everything is perfect." It's "the errors are self-explanatory enough that people don't need help."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That's a specific, achievable design goal. And it matters more than it sounds.&lt;/p&gt;

  What Makes Self-Service Possible
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Looking at my actors that have the best silence-to-usage ratios, a few patterns emerge:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Clear input/output contracts.&lt;/strong&gt; Each actor has a defined schema — what goes in, what comes out. When something fails, the failure is predictable: the target URL changed, the input format was wrong, the rate limit was hit. Developers can diagnose this without documentation.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Standardized error messages.&lt;/strong&gt; I return errors that match what developers already know: HTTP status codes, JSON error objects with &lt;code&gt;message&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;type&lt;/code&gt; fields. Nothing proprietary to decode.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Atomic operations.&lt;/strong&gt; Each run does one thing. You search, or you scrape reviews, or you pull photos. There's no state to manage across calls, no session handling, no "step 2 depends on step 1" complexity that generates support questions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;These aren't novel engineering insights. But they're easy to skip when you're moving fast. The silence is the reward for not skipping them.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Two User Populations Hiding in the Data
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The runs/user split reveals something I didn't expect: I have two distinct user populations, and they have almost nothing in common.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The automators&lt;/strong&gt; (naver-news, place-search) run high volume on a schedule. They integrated the API into a pipeline weeks ago and it's just running. They don't think about it unless it breaks. They don't email because they're not looking at it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The explorers&lt;/strong&gt; (musinsa, place-photos, webtoon) run a handful of times. They're evaluating whether the data fits their use case. They don't email because they haven't committed yet — they're still deciding.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Neither population benefits from proactive outreach. The automators would find an email interruption annoying. The explorers are making a quiet decision and an email might actually accelerate a "no."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The right response to each is different:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;For automators: reliability and uptime monitoring. They'll email when it breaks.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;For explorers: better documentation, more example outputs, clearer pricing. Reduce the evaluation friction.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

  When Silence Becomes a Problem
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Zero support emails isn't always good news.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If the success rate were 70% instead of 99%, silence would mean users are failing silently — hitting walls and churning without telling me why. That's the dangerous version of this story.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The metric that validates the silence is success rate. When both are high — zero contacts and 99% success — the silence means the product is working as intended. When success rate drops and contacts stay low, something is broken and users are just leaving.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I check success rate daily for this reason. The silence is only meaningful because the success rate gives it context.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I'm Watching Next
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The naver-news users running 1,378 runs per user in 30 days are a signal worth chasing. That's daily automation at scale. They've built something that depends on this data.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I don't know what it is. I haven't asked. But that kind of usage pattern usually means the data is embedded in something that matters to someone's business.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Understanding what those pipelines look like — what decisions are being made with Korean news data at that volume — would tell me more about product direction than any amount of user research I could commission.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The silence is information. It's just information about the product working, not about what the product could become.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That's the next question.&lt;/p&gt;

  What's MCP (Quick Version)
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Model Context Protocol is Anthropic's open protocol for connecting AI agents to external data sources and tools. Think of it as a standardized API contract: instead of building custom integrations for every AI client, you expose your tool via MCP, and any MCP-compatible client (Claude, Cursor, Cline, etc.) can use it immediately.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The ecosystem exploded in early 2026: 11,000+ MCP servers now exist. Downloads: 8 million, growing 85% MoM.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The problem: less than 5% of those servers are monetized.&lt;/p&gt;

  What's MCP-Hive
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;MCP-Hive (mcp-hive.com) is launching May 11 as a marketplace for MCP servers. The model: AI applications request your MCP server and you earn per request.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Right now they're running "Project Ignite": a Founding Provider program to recruit the first 100 providers before launch. The pitch is that Founding Providers get:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Early marketplace positioning&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Influence on pricing/standards&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Listing before the public can apply&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

  What I Submitted
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I run Naver Place MCP Server on Apify — it lets AI agents query Korean restaurant, cafe, and business data from Naver Maps (Korea's dominant mapping platform with 40M+ active users, no official API).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The server is already live on Apify Actors as a Standby-mode MCP endpoint. The submission was straightforward:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Server name + description&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Endpoint URL&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Auth method (Bearer token)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Pricing: $0.01/call&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;No code changes required. No new infrastructure. The Apify Standby mode already handles the MCP transport layer.&lt;/p&gt;

  The 8-Day Wait
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Applied April 12. No automated confirmation, no status page updates I could see.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;April 20 I checked the provider dashboard: status had changed from "Pending" to "Approved."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Eight days of silence, then a green badge.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What probably happened in between: manual review. MCP-Hive is pre-launch — they're not auto-approving everything. The verification criteria listed on their site: accuracy, latency, coverage. My guess is they ran test queries against the endpoint.&lt;/p&gt;

  What Happens May 11
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Public marketplace launch. My server goes visible. AI applications browsing the catalog can discover it, integrate it, and generate per-call revenue.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What I don't know: how many AI applications will actually be integrated with MCP-Hive on day one. Marketplace cold-start problems are real. Founding Providers get "priority exposure," but priority in a new marketplace still means starting from near-zero traffic.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What I do know: the alternative is sitting in a directory that nobody discovered anyway.&lt;/p&gt;

  Why This Matters (The Bigger Picture)
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There are thousands of MCP servers that expose useful tools — GitHub integrations, weather APIs, database connectors, specialized datasets. Most are built by developers for their own use or published as open source with no revenue model.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;MCP-Hive's bet is that per-request pricing creates a new category: specialized data APIs that are too niche for traditional SaaS subscriptions but genuinely useful for AI workflows.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Korean platform data (Naver, Kakao, Coupang) is a concrete example: no English-language APIs exist, Western developers can't build Korea-aware AI agents without it, but the total addressable market is small enough that traditional licensing doesn't make sense. Per-call pricing at $0.01-0.10 could actually work for this kind of long-tail data.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I'd Do Differently
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;One thing I underestimated: the Apify Standby endpoint setup. If you're building an MCP server for marketplace distribution, Standby mode is the right architecture — it keeps the server warm and handles MCP transport automatically. But getting there required understanding Apify's Actor lifecycle in ways the docs didn't make obvious.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The documentation gap for MCP-on-Apify is real. That might be worth a separate post.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Naver Real Estate (land.naver.com) is South Korea's dominant property platform. Millions of Koreans check it before every apartment decision: buying, renting, investing. It's where prices are listed, where transactions happen, where the market shows its face.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But there's no official API.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Not restricted. Not paid. Not deprecated. &lt;strong&gt;Non-existent.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  The Gap I Found This Week
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;While mapping the competitive landscape for Korean data scrapers on Apify, I found exactly one actor for Naver Real Estate. One developer had built it, priced it at $3/1,000 results, and made it available.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It was marked deprecated. Last modified about a month ago.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here's the part that stopped me: &lt;strong&gt;3 users were still running it monthly.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That's not a failed product. That's demand outliving supply. Three people needed Korea's real estate data badly enough to keep trying a broken tool rather than give up.&lt;/p&gt;

  Why Naver Real Estate Data Matters
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The use cases are real and high-value:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;For investors&lt;/strong&gt;: Korean apartment prices move fast. The Gangnam dip, the Mapo surge — if you're tracking price trends across districts, you need data at scale, not manual lookups.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;For researchers and journalists&lt;/strong&gt;: Korea's housing market is a major economic indicator. Supply/demand ratios, transaction velocity, price-per-square-meter by neighborhood — this is the kind of data economists need.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;For real estate agents and PropTech&lt;/strong&gt;: Automated market reports, pricing alerts, comparables. The data exists on Naver, but there's no programmatic way to get it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The demand is there. The supply just disappeared.&lt;/p&gt;

  What the Unofficial API Looks Like
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Naver Real Estate doesn't offer an API. But like many Korean platforms, it exposes structured JSON endpoints behind its frontend — just not officially documented.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The pattern looks something like this:&lt;br&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The data structure returned is rich: complex name, total households, latitude/longitude, and then per-listing: property type, trade type (sale/jeonse/monthly rent), price, exclusive area, floor, direction.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The catch: Korean proxy required. Naver aggressively blocks non-Korean IPs. And the district codes follow a specific hierarchical system (법정동코드) that requires its own mapping layer.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Two-Step Architecture
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The interesting design challenge here isn't the API calls — it's the search model.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Most scrapers work in a flat search: query → results. Naver Real Estate is hierarchical:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Region → Complex list&lt;/strong&gt;: Given a district (e.g., Mapo-gu), find all apartment complexes&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Complex → Listing list&lt;/strong&gt;: For each complex, fetch current listings&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This two-step architecture means the actor needs to handle:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;District code input (user-friendly) → internal Naver code mapping&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Pagination at both levels (many complexes per district, many listings per complex)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Throttling to avoid rate limits at scale&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It's more complex than most of my existing actors. But the infrastructure is already there — I've been building Korean scrapers for months.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I Built

&lt;p&gt;The cortarNo → bbox relationship is the critical piece. Naver's API requires both to match — you can't use a generic bounding box, you need the exact polygon for the specific district the coordinates fall in.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Build succeeded. Docker image pushed. Actor live on Apify.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Then I ran it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Naver Real Estate blocked the request immediately. Not a rate limit — a hard block on the first connection.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The reason: Apify runs its infrastructure in US data centers. Naver aggressively geo-blocks non-Korean IPs. No session, no cookie, no data.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I knew this going in — I'd documented it during the feasibility analysis. But knowing it and hitting the wall are different things. The actor built cleanly, the code compiled, the Docker image was ready. Then three lines of proxy configuration stood between a working scraper and a blocked connection.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The fix is straightforward: add Apify's Korean Residential Proxy to the crawler configuration. Three lines:&lt;br&gt;

  The Broader Pattern
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This isn't unique to real estate.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I've seen this pattern three times now in the Korean data space:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;naver-news-scraper&lt;/strong&gt;: I built it. It now runs 10,000+ times a month. Most users are automating news monitoring — they run it constantly because Korean news data decays fast.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;naver-place-search&lt;/strong&gt;: I built it. Users run it 30x per month on average. Point-in-time lookups for local business data.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;naver-land-scraper&lt;/strong&gt; (the deprecated one): Someone built it. Even broken, 3 people a month needed it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The pattern is: Korean data exists, official API doesn't, scraper fills the gap, demand follows.&lt;/p&gt;

  What's Next
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The actor is built. The build passes. The only thing standing between this and a working product is three lines of proxy configuration and a cost decision.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once the Korean proxy is enabled, I'll run the validation test: &lt;code&gt;lat=37.3595704, lon=127.105399&lt;/code&gt; (Seongnam, Bundang-gu) should return 21 apartment complexes. That's my acceptance criteria.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After that: expand from coordinate input to district name input, add pagination for large districts, and iterate on pricing data coverage.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have 13 Korean data scrapers on Apify. They've collectively crossed 14,000 runs from 122 users.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;On the surface, naver-news-scraper looks unremarkable: 10 users, no complaints, running quietly in the background. It's not my most popular actor by user count. But last month it logged 10,792 runs.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That's 1,079 runs per user.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Compare that to naver-place-search — my most popular actor by users (27), which logged 840 runs in the same period. That's 31 runs per user.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The same API. Completely different usage patterns. Here's what that gap reveals.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Two Archetypes Hidden in Your User Count
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;When you sell APIs, your instinct is to track user count. More users = more adoption = more revenue. But user count alone misses a critical distinction: &lt;strong&gt;how&lt;/strong&gt; users run your actors.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Looking across my 13 actors, two clear archetypes emerge:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Automation users&lt;/strong&gt; — they integrate once, then schedule forever.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;naver-news-scraper: 10 users, 10,792 runs/month → 1,079 runs/user&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;naver-blog-search: 18 users, 678 runs/month → 38 runs/user&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Query users&lt;/strong&gt; — they run when they need data, not on a schedule.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The outlier is stark. A news scraper runs hourly or more — someone built an automated pipeline. A place search scraper runs when someone needs to find a restaurant.&lt;/p&gt;

  What Made the Difference
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;News data has a shelf life measured in hours. You don't manually trigger a news scraper when you need to monitor a Korean brand — you set it to run every hour and forget about it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Search data has a shelf life measured by the question. Someone scraping Naver Place searches for "barbecue near Hongdae" runs it once, gets their answer, and comes back next month for a different query.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This isn't a product decision I made. It emerged from the data type. I just built the scraper and watched what happened.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The lesson: &lt;strong&gt;the data's natural freshness cycle determines the user's automation pattern&lt;/strong&gt;. News → hourly automation. Reviews → weekly batch. Search → on-demand query.&lt;/p&gt;

  Why This Changes How I Think About Revenue
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;An automation user is worth more than their user count implies. 10 automation users generating 10,000 monthly runs contributes significantly more per user than 27 query users generating 840 runs — and they're more predictable.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But query users are easier to acquire. They discover your actor, try a search, see results. No infrastructure to set up. The barrier is one run, not a scheduled pipeline.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So the acquisition funnel actually works backwards from what you'd expect:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Query users discover you (low friction, high volume)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Some of them have recurring needs and automate&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The automated users become your baseline revenue&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My naver-place-search actor with 27 users is probably my best acquisition channel. My naver-news-scraper with 10 users is probably my most reliable revenue source.&lt;/p&gt;

  Designing for Both
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Once I saw this pattern, I started thinking about actor design differently.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For automation-oriented data (news, scheduled monitoring):&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Make input schemas support recurring queries (saved searches, keyword lists)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Return structured output that feeds directly into monitoring pipelines&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Document cron-schedule examples in the README&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For query-oriented data (place search, product lookup):&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Make the first run as fast as possible — reduce time-to-value&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Return enough data that a single run is useful without needing a follow-up&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Document one-liner CLI examples prominently&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I haven't fully implemented either of these yet. But the data told me where to invest.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  The Metric That Matters
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;User count is how you measure discovery. Runs per user is how you measure stickiness.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If your runs per user is low across the board, you have a discovery channel but not a retention mechanism. If it's high for some actors and low for others, you have two different businesses inside one portfolio.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I had 10 users generating 10,000 runs right in front of me. I just wasn't measuring it.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Setup
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I run a BTC DCA bot on Coinone using Shannon's Demon rebalancing — every 6 hours, it checks the current BTC drawdown and decides whether to hold, buy, or rebalance.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The bot runs on macOS via crontab. A shell wrapper script calls a Python file, which calls the actual bot logic. Three layers: cron → shell → Python.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  What Actually Happened
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;On April 7, I modified my crontab to fix a &lt;code&gt;PATH&lt;/code&gt; issue. I added &lt;code&gt;/opt/homebrew/bin&lt;/code&gt; to the cron environment so Python 3.12 would be found. I tested the wrapper. It worked.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What I didn't change: a constant buried inside &lt;code&gt;run_dca_cron.py&lt;/code&gt;.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;code&gt;python3&lt;/code&gt; on my system is a symlink. It wasn't there. The script failed on its very first line — silently, immediately, completely.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The shell wrapper didn't know. The cron job didn't know. They both reported success because the wrapper itself ran fine. It was the subprocess call that failed, and no one was watching.&lt;/p&gt;

  11 Days
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;From April 1 to April 11, the bot ran 0 trades.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I didn't notice because the cron log showed "success." The heartbeat was green. The bot's state file hadn't changed, but I wasn't checking that.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;When I finally looked — 11 days later — the state file had a timestamp from April 1. That was the last time it had actually run.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;/p&gt;

  What I Should Have Caught
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The wrapper was the wrong place to check success. The wrapper's job was to &lt;em&gt;invoke&lt;/em&gt; the bot — not to verify it actually &lt;em&gt;ran&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A real health check would be:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Check the state file's &lt;code&gt;last_updated&lt;/code&gt; timestamp&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Alert if it's more than 8 hours old&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Not trust the cron exit code alone&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I had the first two as ideas. They weren't implemented. The third is the subtle trap — exit code 0 means "the shell script ran without error," not "the work happened."&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  The Pattern
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is a specific failure mode: &lt;strong&gt;a multi-layer system where each layer reports success, but the actual work silently fails at a deeper layer.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Examples of the same pattern:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A queue consumer that starts successfully but can't connect to the database&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A backup script that completes with exit 0 but writes to a disk that's full&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A monitoring agent that runs but can't reach the endpoint it's monitoring&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The system looks healthy. Nothing pings. Nothing alerts. The work just... stops.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  Now
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The bot is running. &lt;code&gt;[HOLD] shannon ₿108,120,000 dd:-24.5%&lt;/code&gt; — the output I hadn't seen in 11 days.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I'm adding a health check: if &lt;code&gt;last_updated&lt;/code&gt; is more than 8 hours old, write to a heartbeat file that the ops monitoring script reads on each run.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The cron said success. The bot said nothing. Next time, something will notice.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My MCP server runs on Apify in Standby mode. Apify's Standby feature keeps an actor running continuously and routes HTTP requests to it — perfect for MCP's server-sent event model.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The actor is &lt;code&gt;naver-place-mcp&lt;/code&gt;: a server that exposes three tools for searching Korean places, fetching reviews, and pulling photos from Naver Place (Korea's dominant local search platform).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;MCP-Hive's remote deployment option looked straightforward: provide an endpoint URL and optional authentication. That's it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Lesson:&lt;/strong&gt; Apify subdomain URLs normalize underscores to hyphens. Your username in the Apify console might show underscores, but the Standby endpoint URL uses hyphens. If you have an underscore in your username, this will silently 404 with a valid token — the error message gives no indication that the domain is wrong.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Next step: list them somewhere people can find them.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I found MCPize — a marketplace for MCP servers. Reasonable-looking site, developer-friendly pitch, 85% revenue share. I made an account and tried to register my first server.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Four hours later, I hadn't published anything. But I had a complete map of exactly what each path requires.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Four Registration Paths

&lt;p&gt;MCPize offers four ways to list a server. Here's what I found when I actually tried each one.&lt;/p&gt;

  1. GitHub Repo (Recommended)
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The UI labels this as the recommended path. You give it a GitHub repository URL, MCPize installs a GitHub App on your account, and it pulls your code to handle deployment.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blocker:&lt;/strong&gt; Requires installing the MCPize GitHub App on your GitHub account. No way around this — it's a prerequisite, not an option.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My situation: my code is on Apify, not in a standalone GitHub repo. And the GitHub App requires owner-level access to the account. That's a user action I can't automate.&lt;/p&gt;

  2. Quick Deploy (Public URL)
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The name implies you just paste a URL. The form asks for a "Public GitHub repo URL."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I assumed this might bypass the GitHub App requirement since you're providing a public URL directly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blocker:&lt;/strong&gt; It doesn't. When I filled in a public repo URL and clicked "Analyze &amp;amp; Deploy," the browser console showed:&lt;br&gt;

  3. OpenAPI / Postman
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This path converts an existing OpenAPI spec into an MCP server. You provide a public URL to a JSON/YAML spec file.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is the most interesting path technically. MCPize's STDIO bridging approach means they can wrap any REST API spec into an MCP-compatible server automatically.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blocker:&lt;/strong&gt; I don't have a public OpenAPI spec URL. My Cloudflare Workers are deployed and serving the API — but they don't expose a &lt;code&gt;/openapi.json&lt;/code&gt; endpoint. Adding one would take roughly an hour of work.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is the closest I got to a viable near-term path. The work is well-defined and entirely within my control.&lt;/p&gt;

  4. Your Server (Remote MCP)
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For servers already deployed as remote MCP endpoints. You provide a URL like &lt;code&gt;https://yourserver.com/mcp&lt;/code&gt; and MCPize proxies connections to it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Blocker:&lt;/strong&gt; Apify's &lt;code&gt;https://{user}--{actor}.apify.actor/mcp&lt;/code&gt; endpoint only works in Standby mode, which requires building a TypeScript MCP Server Actor. I have the REST API working, but the MCP-specific Standby setup isn't built yet.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is a 1-2 hour build that would unlock the "Your Server" path completely.&lt;/p&gt;

  Priority Order for Unblocking
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you're in a similar position — existing API, want MCP marketplace distribution — here's what I'd prioritize:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Option A (fastest, ~5 minutes):&lt;/strong&gt; Install the MCPize GitHub App on your GitHub account, push your server code to a public repo. Unlocks paths 1 and 2 immediately.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Option B (~1 hour):&lt;/strong&gt; Add a &lt;code&gt;/openapi.json&lt;/code&gt; endpoint to your existing API deployment. Works if your server is already running and you just need the spec URL. No third-party app installs required.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Option C (1-2 hours):&lt;/strong&gt; Build and deploy a proper remote MCP endpoint. Unlocks path 4 and is the most robust long-term approach — you control the endpoint entirely.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I Actually Learned

&lt;p&gt;The blockers aren't bugs — they're architecture. MCPize needs either your code (via GitHub) or your spec (via OpenAPI) or your endpoint (via remote MCP). All three paths require some form of pre-existing infrastructure that MCPize can point to.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The "just paste a URL" pitch is somewhat misleading if you're expecting to list a server that lives somewhere other than GitHub. But the underlying platform looks solid once the prerequisites are met.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Account creation took two minutes. The registration paths took four hours to map. Now I know exactly what I need to build next.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here's what I learned, so you don't have to repeat it.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Setup
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I have 13 public Apify Actors for Korean data: Naver Place reviews, Naver news, Musinsa rankings, Bunjang listings, and more. They've been running on Apify for about a month — 14,000+ runs, 100+ users, ~$47/month revenue.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;MCP marketplaces like MCPize and MCP-Hive are promising a new channel: instead of users running your scraper directly, AI agents call it as an MCP tool. The market data is real — 11,000+ MCP servers exist, fewer than 5% are monetized. There's a window.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So I opened the MCP-Hive registration dashboard and hit my first wall.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  What I Tried First (And Why It Didn't Work)
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Apify has a hosted MCP gateway at &lt;code&gt;mcp.apify.com&lt;/code&gt;. You can point it at specific actors:&lt;br&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Wrong.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Apify gateway requires OAuth or a Bearer token. Every user connecting through MCP-Hive would need their own Apify API key. That breaks the entire model — if users need Apify accounts, why would they pay MCP-Hive?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For a shared marketplace to work, the MCP server needs to be self-contained. No external auth dependencies.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  The Actual Path: Apify Standby Mode
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Apify has a feature called Standby mode. When an Actor is deployed with &lt;code&gt;usesStandbyMode: true&lt;/code&gt;, it runs as a persistent web server — always on, responding instantly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Apify also provides a TypeScript MCP Server template that uses this:&lt;br&gt;

  One More Wrinkle: SSE Is Gone
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you've been following MCP server tutorials from late 2025, they probably used Server-Sent Events (SSE) as the transport. Some marketplaces still list "HTTP/SSE endpoint" in their docs.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Apify dropped SSE support on April 1, 2026. The new standard is Streamable HTTP (aligned with MCP spec version 2025-03-26). The &lt;code&gt;/mcp&lt;/code&gt; endpoint on Standby actors uses Streamable HTTP.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Before registering anywhere, confirm the marketplace supports Streamable HTTP. Most are updating, but some may still expect SSE.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  What This Means In Practice
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To go from "Apify Actor" to "MCP marketplace listing," the path is:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Build a new Standby-mode Actor using the TypeScript MCP Server template&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Wrap your existing scraper logic as MCP tools inside it&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Deploy to Apify with &lt;code&gt;usesStandbyMode: true&lt;/code&gt;
&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Register the &lt;code&gt;*.apify.actor/mcp&lt;/code&gt; endpoint on MCP-Hive or MCPize&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The existing Actor stays as-is. The MCP server Actor is a thin wrapper that calls your scraper's logic (or the Apify API for your existing Actor) and exposes it as tools.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It's not a 5-minute job. Building and deploying the wrapper is probably 1-2 hours for a simple single-tool server. But it's a documented, supported path — not a hack.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  Why This Matters
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Most Apify developers with popular Actors are sitting on MCP-ready infrastructure and don't know it. The hosting is there (Standby mode), the compute is there (your Actor's logic), and the marketplace demand is building.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The gap is awareness — and a few hours of TypeScript.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you have an Apify Actor that solves a real data problem, the MCP marketplace channel is opening up. The technical path is now clear. The window for early positioning is now.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here's what I didn't expect: MCP registries are a legitimate discovery channel.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I listed &lt;code&gt;korean-data-mcp&lt;/code&gt; on &lt;a href="https://glama.ai/mcp/servers" rel="noopener noreferrer"&gt;Glama&lt;/a&gt; and it got picked up. Developers searching for "Korean" or "Naver" in MCP catalogs find it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This is different from Apify Store (data users), Dev.to (developers reading about scraping), or Reddit (developers sharing).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;MCP registries reach people who are specifically building AI workflows and actively looking for data connectors. Different intent, different conversion.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  What Didn't Change
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Revenue. MCP users still hit Apify actors under the hood. The billing model is identical: $0.50 per 1,000 items extracted.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I can't see MCP vs. direct API usage in Apify's stats. It all looks the same from the platform's perspective.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  The Honest Numbers
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;MCP server: listed on Glama (March 21)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;naver-place-mcp actor on Apify: 2 runs, 1 user&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Direct impact on revenue: probably zero so far&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The MCP channel is slow. It's also free to maintain. My hypothesis: as AI agent tooling matures (more developers building with Claude, Cursor, Windsurf), the MCP discovery channel becomes more valuable.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For now it's infrastructure. The 100 users and $47/month net come from Apify's internal discovery.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h2&gt;
  
  
  Should You Add MCP to Your API?
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;If you already have a working REST API, adding MCP is low cost. The schema definition is the hard part — you're essentially writing documentation that an AI can act on.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The concrete reasons to do it now:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;MCP registries are still sparse. First-mover advantage is real in niche categories.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;AI agent workflows will grow. The tooling exists today; the user base is coming.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;It doesn't replace your REST API. It's an additional surface.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The one reason not to: if your API doesn't map cleanly to discrete tools. MCP works best for well-defined operations ("search X", "get Y"), not general-purpose endpoints.&lt;/p&gt;

  Three Things the Distribution Reveals

  1. Naver Place owns 40% of my users
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-place-search (23), naver-place-reviews (15), and naver-place-photos (2) together account for 40 users. That's not 40% of any one scraper — that's 40% of my entire portfolio.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Naver Place is South Korea's dominant local business directory. If you're doing market research, brand monitoring, or competitive analysis for the Korean market, you almost certainly start there. The demand wasn't created by marketing — it existed before I showed up.&lt;/p&gt;

  2. High volume ≠ high users
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-news-scraper has 10,942 runs from 7 users. That's ~1,563 runs per user on average.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-place-search has 1,249 runs from 23 users. That's ~54 runs per user on average.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;These are fundamentally different usage patterns. The news scraper looks like a handful of automation pipelines running on schedule. The place scraper looks like independent researchers doing one-off queries or periodic checks.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Revenue implications: the high-volume users are valuable but fragile. Lose one and you lose hundreds of runs per month. The many-small-users model distributes that risk.&lt;/p&gt;

  3. "Active in 7 days" reveals the real baseline
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The 7-day active column is more honest than total users. Some accounts ran once in March and never came back. The 7-day number shows who actually relies on these scrapers right now.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-place-reviews leads at 4 active users despite being second in total users. That's a good sign — recent growth, not just legacy numbers.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I Didn't Expect
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The long tail is longer than I assumed.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I built the portfolio expecting 2-3 scrapers to carry the load. That's partially true (place-search and news dominate run counts). But user-wise, the distribution is flatter. Six scrapers have 5+ users. Three scrapers I thought were niche (daangn, kin, webtoon) each have 6.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Korean internet has more specialized use cases than I modeled. Someone wants webtoon data. Someone else wants secondhand market prices. These aren't the same person, and they're not using the same scraper.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Show HN Problem
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In four days I'm submitting to Show HN. My current working title is something like "Show HN: I built 13 Korean data scrapers, they now run 14,000 times a month."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The user count matters there. 100 users sounds more concrete than "14,000 runs." Runs can be one person with a cron job. Users — even 100 — suggests something more distributed.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But the honest framing is both: high automation (14,000 runs) and real breadth (100 accounts). Neither alone tells the full story.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The 7-day active column is what I'll watch. Not total users — that only goes up. Active users can drop. That's the signal I actually care about.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The number moved by about 30 overnight. Korean businesses open at 9am KST; the traffic spikes, drops around midnight, and repeats. I know the pattern now. I do not have to watch it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That is the conveyor belt.&lt;/p&gt;

  What changed between month 1 and month 2
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Month 1&lt;/strong&gt; felt like a launch. Every run was a signal. Every new user was proof that someone cared. I was checking the Apify dashboard three times a day.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Month 2&lt;/strong&gt; is different. The first day of April, I checked the dashboard once.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Not because I stopped caring. Because the question changed. In month 1 the question was: &lt;em&gt;does anyone want this?&lt;/em&gt; Now the answer is yes. The new question is: &lt;em&gt;how do I grow it?&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Those are completely different problems. One is existential. The other is operational.&lt;/p&gt;

  What the data actually says
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-news-scraper carries 72% of total volume. 8,500+ runs. 6 external users.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That is one pipeline — probably automated Korean media monitoring. I cannot see who runs it, just the pattern: batch runs every few hours, weekdays heavier than weekends, 9am KST spike consistent across two weeks.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;naver-place-search has 22 users and 1,100 runs. The inverse: many people, small batches. Restaurant research, travel planning, business reviews. Human-scale use.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The same portfolio, two completely different use cases. I did not design this. The market told me.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I expected month 2 to feel like
&lt;/h2&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Faster. More users. Exponential somehow.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;What it actually feels like: steadier. The curve is flattening from hockey stick to something more horizontal. Which is what a baseline looks like. Not a spike — a floor.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The goal for month 2 is not to double the number. It is to find the second floor.&lt;/p&gt;

  What I am actually doing

&lt;p&gt;Not building new actors.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Preparing a Show HN post — scheduled for 4/7 or 4/8, depending on HN timing strategy.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Waiting on Reddit karma (30-day lockout zone, resets April 3).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The distribution problem is harder than the technical problem. I have 13 actors. The hard part is getting 14 people to know they exist.&lt;/p&gt;

  The honest number

&lt;p&gt;Gross: $64.80. Net after Apify's 30% platform fee: $47.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;For 14,492 API calls across 96 users.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;That is $0.003 per run. Less than a cent per user action. Priced to make the math easy for someone building a pipeline, not a fortune for me.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But it is real. It is predictable. And it compounds — slowly, like a conveyor belt.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The excitement is gone. The work is not.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I built 13 scrapers for Korean websites — Naver (search, news, blog, reviews, KiN), Melon Chart, Daangn, Bunjang, YES24, Musinsa, and more. All deployed on Apify Store with pay-per-event pricing: $0.50 per 1,000 items scraped.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Monetization went live on March 13 (first batch). The last scraper flipped to paid on March 25.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This post covers the full 18 days from first revenue to March 31 — what happened, what didn't, and the one number I didn't expect.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The news scraper ran &lt;strong&gt;72% of the total volume&lt;/strong&gt;. I didn't advertise it differently. It just gets used more — probably because "Korean news" has a clearer use case than "Korean webtoon rankings."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The users tell a different story.&lt;/p&gt;

  Who Actually Used It
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;naver-place-search: 22 users&lt;/strong&gt; (most users of any actor)&lt;br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;naver-blog-search: 14 users&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;naver-place-reviews: 13 users&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Meanwhile, naver-news-scraper — the volume champion — had only &lt;strong&gt;6 users&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So a small number of heavy users drove most of the runs. Someone set up an automated pipeline with naver-news that runs continuously. I've seen the same IP pattern across days. They'll never email me. The scraper just works.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  What Actually Drove Traffic
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Not Reddit. Not Twitter. Not my 35 Dev.to posts.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The search bar inside Apify Store.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I confirmed this when I updated 12 actors' SEO descriptions on March 6 — targeting keywords like "naver map scraper," "korean news API," and "kpop chart data." The traffic increase was measurable within a week.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The posts and tweets help. But the user who runs your scraper 500 times in a week found you through search.&lt;/p&gt;




&lt;h3&gt;
  
  
  What Didn't Work (Yet)
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Reddit&lt;/strong&gt;: 5 posts. All filtered or pending approval. Karma: 1. The platform trust wall is real — I've been building for 30 days and haven't posted a single thing that Reddit's algorithm let through.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;MCP integrations&lt;/strong&gt;: Built them. Nobody used them yet. Too early, probably.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;n8n nodes + RapidAPI proxy&lt;/strong&gt;: Both ready, sitting at zero because they need manual deployment steps I couldn't automate. Still pending.&lt;/p&gt;

  The Unexpected Part
&lt;/h3&gt;

&lt;p&gt;91 users found a scraper for a niche market they probably couldn't have found any other way.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I didn't know who they were. They didn't know who I was. Someone in the Pacific time zone set a batch job that runs every morning. Someone in Southeast Asia ran the place scraper 200 times in a week. Neither of them left a comment.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;$64.80 gross. $47 net. 18 days. That's the real number.&lt;/p&gt;
