Introduction

In this general, non-technical article, I’d like to explore the motivation behind writing articles — and how creativity naturally finds its way into our professional and personal lives.

 Creativity as a Natural Manifestation

I think it’s fair to say that humans are always seeking happiness, balance, and a sense of purpose. There are countless books, talks and philosophies on this topic, but one thing seems to be right in front of us: creativity.

It’s fascinating when something appears from literally nothing — a new painting, song, poem, design or even a software solution. These creations emerge from what we call thought or inspiration, yet their exact source remains mysterious. Creativity, in this sense, is one of humanity’s greatest gifts.

In the natural world, we can see creativity expressed effortlessly. Fruit trees, after gathering strength through spring, blossom and bear fruit — a process both organic and unforced. I believe the same happens when we engage deeply in something that inspires us. Sooner or later, it turns into some form of creative output.

A simple test to measure the value of what you do is to ask yourself:

“What would I do if I had all the resources I needed?”

If your answer matches what you’re already doing, it’s a strong sign you’re on the right path.

Creativity takes many forms — from visual art and music to perfumery or cuisine. I truly believe every activity can be done creatively. Personally, I’ve experienced genuine aesthetic pleasure from looking at clean, elegant, and “beautiful” programming code. Such code is art — and it can only be written by someone who truly enjoys their craft.

Ultimately, creativity is a natural outcome of doing something that drives you. Whether your new song is heard by a full concert hall or just your cat in the kitchen — the reward is in the creation itself, not the applause.

Engaging deeply in something interesting inevitably leads to new ideas — and writing can be a powerful way to capture and share them.

 The Craftsmanship Approach

Another dimension worth exploring is the craftsmanship approach to your profession — mastering your skills and knowledge to the point where what you create becomes truly unique.

This isn’t a quick journey, but it’s one worth pursuing. One powerful way to refine your craft is by rethinking concepts and abstractions again and again — much like polishing a diamond.

Take the IT term microservices, for example. It means something very different to a beginner than to a veteran developer. Writing articles helps you build stronger mental models by forcing you to structure your thoughts and experiences — both implicitly and explicitly.

 Instead of a Conclusion

Improvement happens when you start producing, not just consuming.

Writing, mentoring, or public speaking push you to consolidate what you know and share it meaningfully with others.

Listening to courses, reading books, or watching talks can inspire you - but creation is what transforms inspiration into mastery.
