I’ve been sharing updates on my solo dev project — an AI-powered GitHub platform — and I keep hearing “build in public!” as the go-to advice.

The idea makes sense:
You’re not just promoting a product — you’re telling a story.
You invite others into your process, not just your launch.But here's my honest question:
Does it actually work?
Like… does it convert followers into users, or is it just a visibility thing?
So far, I’ve gained helpful feedback, some visibility, and a few great convos.

Hi everyone!

I’m working on an exciting project aimed at revolutionizing geolocation tracking through Wi-Fi metadata, targeting use cases in cybersecurity and law enforcement surveillance. The idea involves tracking devices in real-time without needing GPS or cellular networks, providing a unique, stealthy solution for covert operations, asset monitoring, and more. The MVP is already in the concept stage, and I'm looking for collaborators or a co-founder to help turn this idea into a reality.

Project Highlights:
Problem: Traditional GPS-based tracking systems are easily avoided by tech-savvy criminals. This solution uses Wi-Fi access point metadata to provide real-time geolocation of target devices.
Solution: A software tool that captures Wi-Fi metadata (like MAC addresses) and triangulates the target’s location using third-party geolocation APIs. The tool works covertly, without alerting the user, making it perfect for surveillance and covert operations.
Current Stage: Core functionality for the MVP is planned out, and I’m ready to start developing the first version. I’m looking for tech-savvy individuals to join me in bringing this to life, especially those with expertise in:
Cybersecurity or networking.
Software development (especially Python, C++, or cloud tools).
Experience working on surveillance or law enforcement tools is a huge plus.
