Hey y'all! I made it just in time for the tail-end of October to spin up another Music of the Month. This time around, I wanna hear y'all's favorite Halloween tunes. I'm looking for stuff that is dark, scary, creepy, or for any other reason makes ya think of Halloween. If you drop anything that is NSFW, please give a heads up... I realize horror-related music videos and tunes can get a bit brutal, so please let us know if you share anything edgy. 🎃

Hey folks! I'm switching this series up to a once-a-month happening as I've not been making it onto DEV quite as frequently these days, but I still wanna hear y'all's musical suggestions and keep this thing rolling. For the sake of making things easy, I'll be keeping the series name as Music Monday, but just know that my plan is to pop in and share this thing once a month. Can't promise that'll always happen, but I think that cadence is doable for me. So, with that said, what have y'all been listening to recently?

Been a good bit since I've shared music with you all, and I've missed it! So, here I am, coming back at ya with a fresh Music Monday. This one is all about the summer... I wanna hear y'all's favorite summertime tunes whatever that might mean to you. Could be songs with lyrics about the summer, or maybe it's just music that reminds you of summer in some way. And on that note, if no songs are coming to mind, maybe there's an artist, album, music video, or genre that captures the summer vibes for you — all are fair game. Whatever reason you have for choosing your summer musical pick, let us know in the comments below!

By the way, I realize this pick is a bit biased to us Northern Hemisphere-ers and this is a worldwide community. 🌍🌏🌎 If it's currently winter by you and you would like to share a winter-focused song, please do it!

La música es parte importante de la vida de la mayoría de las personas y una vida no basta para poder escuchar todas las canciones que quisiéramos o conocer a todos los artistas, solistas o bandas.

Últimamente mis gustos musicales han sido muy estáticos y siento que necesito abrir mis horizontes y poder conocer nueva música interesante.

Este post es la sexta entrega de una serie semanal que lanzaré todos los lunes para que como comunidad podamos compartir y por qué no conocer nuevas melodías. 🎶

Merry Christmas y'all! That's right, it's Christmas day. Just imagine how many homes are filled with Christmas music right now. Christmas music is a serious business... turns out it's a pretty lucrative decision tying your muisc to a beloved yearly event. Sellouts, haha! Bahhh humbug. Nahh, I'm kidding, I'm cool with Christmas music in limited amounts and it's definitely fitting for Christmas day. It's got a sound — if you're wondering what makes Christmas music sound so Christmassy, look no further than this video by Andrew Huang. So, what's your favorite Christmas song? Beats! I'm talking about the rhythm section. Bass and drums. You get a good low-end kick drum that can rattle your whole house + those snappy snares & crisp high-hats to punch through it... pair that with a good groovy bass line and you got yourself a party! A good beat has a way of hypnotizing you into motion... first, you feel it running through your body and before you know it, you're bobbing your head, tapping your foot, and shaking your butt. Whether your favorite beatmakers are doing their thing the old-fashioned way with drums & hand percussion or are rocking it digitally with drum machines and computers, I'm open to whatever. As always, the topic is just meant to inspire you, but feel free to color outside the lines and suggest whatever you wanna.

Calling all keyboardists, bedroom producers, and lovers of weird sounds!

I can stop myself from geeking out over synthesizers. Moog, Sequential, Roland, Oberheim, Korg... the list goes on and on.

I regularly find myself tuning into YouTube videos of folks playing, testing, tutorial-ing, unboxing, and just generally geeking out over synths.

I'm starting this thread to share my findings and hopefully to find other folks who are interested in this kinda stuff too! So, with that said, what synths are y'all into? Which ones do you have in your personal collection? Watching any synthusiasts on YouTube? Got any synth news to share?

Moog Acquired by inMusic

Recently, Moog Music, the classic synthesizer manufacture located in North Carolina was acquired by inMusic, a Rhode Island–based company that owns Akai, Alesis, and other music-making brands.

I've been a fan of all things Moog for a few years now and I'm hopeful that the company keeps its craftsman ethos and continues to crank out top quality synthesizers with their character charm and aesthetic. That said, as a business and organization they have had some pretty bad fumbles in recent years (see this article on Pitchfork)... hopefully, new leadership will be a good thing.

But, as a result of the acquisition, the company is no longer employee-owned. At least the employees are receiving some payout from this sale (Asheville Citizen Times), and luckily, the manufacturing and HQ will stay in Asheville... I really enjoy visiting their factory.

Currently, I'm a bit worried, but I'm eager to see what becomes of Moog. Will the inMusic acquisition see a decline or increase in quality for Moog? Will we see Akai/Moog cross-over instruments? Will Moog become more financially stable and start holding Moogfest again? Only time will tell...
