Freelance Work. What to do?

I am a 20 something year old South African male. I'm down in the dumps. Stuck in a country that doesn't give enough entry work for newly graduated people like myself. Remote work itself is difficult when you come from a country like mine because of loadshedding (Google for more info💀).

To sum all of that up, it isn't sunshine and roses for people from my neck of the woods. I want to change that. I want myself and people like to stop having to struggle. And I'm going to need all your help to circumvent all the unnecessary hurdles.

What're your most recommended tips and advice to becoming a full-fledged and independent freelance developer? What advice would you give for someone who is starting out? Which sites work best for remote work? In all aspects of code. From Web development, to bot development, to data science.

End Of Year Fatigue?

Have you reached end of year fatigue? If your answer is yes, then welcome to the club. If your answer is no, then get the fuck out of this post you lucky bastard. Just kidding man, please stay, I'm glad to host you for the next few lines.

I feel like I'm reaching my limit. I feel like a pot of water that's just about to reach boiling temp. and start flowing over onto the stove.

I've challenged myself to make 2 sites, 2 very important site, 2 potentially life-opening sites.

I aspire to become a freelance webmaster next year January so that I can overcome my financial woes, But I had 2 problems:

1) People won't hire you if you don't have a site.
2) There has to be a good portfolio to make potential employers trust in your skills.

A month back I solved problem 1 with my own site: https://lithimgwebi.vercel.app/ (check it out if you have the time). Now it was time to solve problem 2.

I could've chosen from a whole host of different sectors to help bolster the portfolio, but I chose to stick to web development and add to my ReactJS knowledge by employing a MERN stack.

Ultimately it was a good choice because I completed the functionality quite fast, the styling and responsiveness are just the leftover tasks. A friend of mine also asked for a site, so things should be looking up. They truly are, but I just feel like I'm in a rut because of this end of year fatigue.

What're your stories? In what way is the end of year fatigue affecting you?

After a long hiatus, I'm back to share how we are almost at the finish line. I've done some last minute edits and I'm currently pushing it to github. I'm the most excited I've ever been in my life right now 🔥🔥

I've been looking up webhosting as well and as well as where is the best free hosting platform to deploy everything. I'll probably deploy to @vercel today/tomorrow🔥😆🤪

Note of growth

Growth is such a fickle thing.

I'm currently going through all of my projects trying to figure out the purpose of these projects so I can improve and update my Github account. I've never been so embarrassed in my life. I'm literally cringing so hard at the work I published is my youth (3 months ago btw).

At the same time I'm not feeling disappointed at the work that I dished out, I'm more happy at the fact that I can look at my past work and see how much I could improve on set work.

But still this shit is cringe.

Day 12/100: Theme attack

Today has been filled with general styling and adding a "dark" and "light" theme to the site. This whole search sent me down a rabbit hole of conditional rendering and the css "filter" attribute. But I've come out the whole a different man and a different coder

Day 11/100: The refresh

Cleaning up and optimising was on the agenda today. Spent the majority of my day reading up more on react and conditional rendering.

Some of my day was also spent editing most of the icons on the page and looking at the general colour scheme of the site. I'm unsure of which colour palette and colour theme is needed. This uncertainty led me down a rabbit hole that left me on the doorstep of "Toggle buttons for themes". That why I can have a everything I want and I can give the user the chance to choose whatever they want.
