How to Get Feedback from Users

There are a lot of features I want to implement. But which one is most important? Which one will users appreciate the most?

Better to ask the way than go astray

It's a bad thing to guess what people want the most. If you are certain about something then do it. But if you are not sure, and there are a bunch of equally important features than it's better to ask, right?

That's why I'm creating Feedback page on The Track. Registered users could post suggestions, and everyone with account could vote. Most popular suggestions will be implemented first.

Oh, and everyone can see progress.

With Feedback page we will avoid developing cool features that people don't need. Also, we'll get feedback directly from those that are affected the most.

I'm curious what do you think about it?

What should we call this page? Feedback, Features, or something else?

What do you think about asking users for opinion and suggestion?

 What's wrong with the approach?

 What's good with this approach?

Once again, it's better to be harsh than to say nothing. I'm really looking forward to your feedback!

I published App I been working on and this happened...

First of all, I wanna thank @danielw and @darksmile92 for helpful feedback on my website. I will apply it to my next website update.

Yesterday, I finally completed and published the app on Product Hunt & Website. Now, I wanna share results with you.

I expected less than 10 upvotes on Product Hunt and less than 5 registered users. My biggest fear was that no one will even visit a website and that I will have zero registered people.

But somehow I got a small response and I was so happy about it. More than 20 registered accounts, and almost 60 Upvotes (58 while I'm writing this) on Product Hunt.

Oh yeah, of course, I unexpected bug occurred :O "Quota has been exceeded for this project..." and visitors couldn’t download installation files. I was so lucky that T.E. was kind enough to point that out and I did quick transition to AWS where I already had uploaded files for download.

I'm still counting every registered user, and I plan to send each of them an email.

This is the app for personal projects, and customizable so it can be more personal itself. The whole point is to have something personal, and I want to get know with each person who uses the app.

Thanks for the support and feedback. Read post if you wanna know more, or check Product Hunt and/or Website.

I designed and coded a cross-platform app by myself!

 Long time no see!

It's been 2 years (and a couple of days) since I opened an account on dev.to.

I will celebrate the 2nd anniversary with publishing post about my latest side project.

Some time ago, I needed a time tracking app for some of my projects. The good thing is that there is a lot of time tracking apps!
But, of course, If I were satisfied with some of them, I wouldn't make this post :D

I wanted a really simple app, just to track my projects and if it's possible to somehow remind me when to start and stop. Oh, and if there is an app to just stop tracking automatically when I stop working.

After using Toggle for some time, I decided to try designing an app that will suit my needs.

The design was nice, I thought, and I even knew Front-End, but I didn't want another web time tracker. I didn't want another tab or window open, I wanted something simple and easy to use.

 So I decided to quit

But this year, I started experimenting with something called Electron.js, and it was mind-blowing. I couldn't believe I can write HTML, CSS, JS, and create an app for macOS, Windows, and Linux, and all that with just one codebase. IT WAS AMAZING!

So I started working on it again

I found Angular-Electron starter kit on GitHub, and slowly started with slicing design screen by screen.

It was an amazing experience. There were so many things that were harder than I expected to be, and there were so many easy to do things that I expected to be hard.

I finally published 1.0.0 version :D

I published a post on Product Hunt, and if you are curious about it, you can visit The Track Website.

Feel free to leave harsh feedback.

I'm planning to launch more products and getting real feedback will prevent me from making the same mistakes again.

The Track GIF:

Sometimes I just want to make something I think is interesting to make. It's fun, and I doubt it will ever be useful.

This is an example of war thank with animated wheels. I use just HTML and CSS (SASS) for coding it.

Do you have any idea what I can code next?

Hi there, I just wanted to share with you five "hamburger menus" that I coded on Codepen. What do you think and how often you use it for tablets and phones?

Ling to Codepen

Also, you can visit every toggle, especially so you can just copy and paste code without thinking if you want to use it.

Toggle One
Toggle Two
Toggle Three
Toggle Four
Couple things to improve in dev.to UI to make a better experience for users.

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I wanted to point some issues that I have while scrolling on the dev.to homepage.
As someone once said "Complaining about a problem without proposing a solution is called whining." so I felt need to design solution for some of the issues I have. If you want to skip all reading and just see final design scroll to the bottom of the post.
First and biggest issue for me is typography for posts title. It's too big and it feels like a little bit too 'pushy' so I need to try hard to read it. The thing I did to fix this is changing the color of title to little brighter dark (#444444) and font-family to "Zilla Slab". I also change font-family and color of the post author to gray (#95989A) because I felt like I don't need to know first who is an author but a title is very important to me because based on it I will decide if I want to read the post or not. Bellow is an image of the first post on the homepage.

Before I show you the design of rest of the posts on the homepage I need to tell you something. While scrolling on the homepage it would be helpful to first see a thumbnail of posts so I can decide faster what is it about and then if I'm not clear I would read the title. The first post is without a #tag that is now in some posts before title and second is with it.

But, what about posts without thumbnail? I doubted what solution to use, this that already exist on dev.to or instead of image to put div with #tag title and background of that tag. Look at the image below for my decision.

Other things that I didn't explain are rounded images of authors, colors of tags that look more like links, and smaller icons for likes and comments on non-first posts. There are like that for aesthetical reasons.
Also, sidebars with discussions and podcasts are little distracting when I want to just look through posts and for that reason I changed links with more brighter color (#95989A). For an aesthetical reason, I changed regular button to 'flat' one. Look at the image below.

Cards for posts, sidebar, etc are #ffffff with box-shadow of 0, 0, 3, rgba(0,0,0,0.12), background color of page is brighter (#F8F8F8) and all user images are rounded. Almost everywhere font is "Zilla Slab" except for numbers (Roboto). I didn't redesign the whole homepage because I don't think that others things have an influence on experience.
The image below is homepage without footer and elements that I think don't have an influence on experience.

SVG file with better resolution

For end,
I want you to leave the comments if is there something that I didn't explain, do you agree with me or maybe there is no need for this changes. If something I didn't explain right just asks because this is not just my first post on dev.to, this is my first blog post ever.
Also, I want to say thanks to people that allow me using their posts and info in my design.
