Merry Christmas 🎄

I have a little node package for this Christmas! 😄

I've been working on FileToMarkdown, a tool to convert files into markdown format. 🎉

👉 GitHub Repository:

https://github.com/jojomondag/FileToMarkdown

👉 NPM Package:

https://www.npmjs.com/package/filetomarkdown

If you're working with JavaScript and need to integrate file-to-markdown conversion into your project, feel free to check it out!

Maybe somebody needs a version that works directly on their page—you can use mine. 😊

🎥 Watch the Demo Video:

A Simple Way to Communicate Your Code with LLMs: Syntax Extractor

Hi everyone! I've put together a little tool that’s been helping me a lot in my own coding workflow, and I thought maybe it could be useful for you too. It’s called Syntax Extractor, a Visual Studio Code extension that makes it easier to extract and organize your project's code structure.

Syntax Extractor for VScode

What it does is pretty simple:

It extracts the entire code structure of your project—folders, file trees, file types, and all the code—so you can easily share it or use it with Large Language Models (LLMs).
You can copy the extracted data to your clipboard and paste it into any LLM or documentation without hassle.
There’s a neat interactive webview that lets you browse your project’s structure visually see how much tokens and chars yourcodebase has.

I’ve found it really helpful for making sense of larger projects and communicating with AI tools, and I hope it can help you too. You can find it on the VSCode Marketplace here: Syntax Extractor

I’d love to hear your thoughts if you give it a try!

Hi everyone,

I've made a video where I explain my current workflow with code and projects. It's quite different from how I used to work, and in the video, I share all the details of my new approach.

Hope you find it helpful!

Development: Focusing on Ideas/Solutions Over Code

I just created a website with CSS and JavaScript for appearance and functionality that I will use for another project I'm working on.

I believe that the workflow will increasingly focus less on written code and more on ideas/solutions. If you have tools like CodePen or SVG Viewer, and if there is a bcompiler that allows you to see the idea in practice, see the results, and test it, making the development cycle much faster. This way, you can focus on solving problems or getting the product prototype to work and behave as intended.

What do you think about this?

In the example here, I had an idea that I wouldn't care about files/folders above the line, but I would care about those below the line. Just CodePen, where I can see the code and the results together, significantly speeds up the development cycle.

Personally, my way of coding has completely changed. What do you feel/think about this?

I recently found a neat hack to make my MacBook Pro more comfortable to use: filing down the sharp edges! It’s a simple mod that can significantly improve your experience, especially if you spend a lot of time on your laptop.

10/10 would do it again :P Happy coding out there.

A video tutorial on the topic

Do you guys have any interesting hacks like this?

Syntax Extractor for Visual Studio Code. If you've ever wanted to seamlessly communicate your codebase to any LLM (like ChatGPT), this extension helps you save time.

 🎉 What is Syntax Extractor?

Syntax Extractor is a VSCode extension that helps you extract code and file structure context from your project. It streamlines gathering your code for better communication and assistance from any LLM.

 💡 Why Use Syntax Extractor?

1. Effortless Code Extraction
Syntax Extractor identifies and extracts your project’s code and file structure. Say goodbye to manual copy-pasting!

3. Contextual Understanding
By providing code snippets with their respective contexts
Syntax Extractor helps LLMs understand the bigger picture. This leads to more accurate suggestions, better debugging assistance, and more meaningful code reviews.

 🚀 How to Get Started?

1.Install the Extension: Head over to the Visual Studio Code Marketplace and install.

2.Activate the Extension: Open your codebase in VSCode and activate from the sidebar (Wave icon).

3.Extract and Share: Select the code you want to share, and let Syntax Extractor do the rest!

 📢 Spread the Word!

If you find Syntax Extractor helpful, share it or give me a star I would appreciate it!
