, you’re not alone. This issue is frustrating, especially when you’re working on a critical project. Don’t worry—I’ve got you covered!

What Causes the Issue?
The “MySQL module shutting down unexpectedly” error often occurs due to corrupted MySQL files, unexpected shutdowns, or misconfigured settings in XAMPP. This can disrupt your development environment and prevent you from accessing your databases.

Follow these steps to fix the issue:

Step 1: Backup and Rename the data Folder
Navigate to the mysql folder in your XAMPP installation directory (usually found at C:\xampp\mysql).
Locate the data folder and copy it.
Paste the copy in the same directory and rename it to data_scope.
This creates a backup of your data folder in case something goes wrong.
Step 2: Clean Up the Corrupted Data Folder
Open the original data folder.
Delete the following folders:
mysql
performance_schema
phpmyadmin
test
In the same folder, delete all other files except for ibdata1.
The ibdata1 file stores your InnoDB tablespaces and is essential for recovering your databases.
Step 3: Restore Backup Files
Go to the backup folder inside the mysql directory.
This folder contains a clean copy of MySQL’s default database files.
Copy all the contents of the backup folder except for ibdata1.
Paste these files and folders into the data folder.
This restores the essential MySQL system databases without overwriting your existing ibdata1 file.
Restart MySQL in XAMPP
Open the XAMPP Control Panel.
Click on Start next to the MySQL module.
If everything was done correctly, MySQL should start without errors.
