Fosshost a non-profit organisation provides free hosting to open source projects.

Projects can benefit from our free hosting services which can be used to help design, build, run, and deploy your code and deployments for the benefit and use of the wider open source community.

The fosshost project is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to serve the hosting needs of the global open source community.

Founded in April 2020, fosshost started after it became apparent that there was a demand for sustainable and high quality hosting services. Even more, for free.

We began with one server and very quickly expanded particularly through the COVID-19 pandemic helping projects of all shapes and sizes. Today, we help more than fifty projects across ten nodes in two continents and six data centers in the USA, EU and UK.

These nodes are donated by our hosting sponsors and we manage the infrastructure donated to us, on behalf of the projects we help.

Those open source projects eligible for our services, typically apply for a virtual private server (VPS). This is shipped with the following specification, but can be increased, upon request.

400GB Storage
IPv4 / IPv6 connectivity
Full Remote SSH Access

We support most operating systems including CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, ArchLinux, Fedora and FreeBSD. We support custom OS.

The fosshost.org project is managed and coordinated by our founding owner, and a group of highly talented volunteers. We provide and offer a range of professional hosting services to assist projects. We believe in sharing our infrastructure and making both our service and support accessible and available to all eligible and active projects.

We do not host server farms in cupboards under stairs or garages. Our open source infrastructure is housed in professional data centers, globally and is maintained by our volunteers and hosting supporters who kindly donate infrastructure to the project.

The project has an appetite to indirectly assist other projects who offer hosting services by sharing our infrastructure, resources and automation technology.

We exist through the kind philanthropy of the hosting industry. The project and infrastructure is managed and coordinated by our founding owner, and a group of highly talented volunteers.

These reciprocated values of sharing resources with open source projects help to support, promote and advance the learning and knowledge of free software within our ecosystem.

The project runs a large, global open source infrastructure in four countries with more than 6 Gig of transit available which enables us to provide resilient, scalable and professional hosting services that compete with public cloud providers.

We provide virtual private servers, storage, domain name registration and management services to projects, including shared community services including BBB (big blue button), web and database hosting.

These come in many flavors including a virtual private server with ipv4/ipv6 (depending on region), various operating systems and specifications. All applications can be made via the fosshost.org website.

The project in addition to VPS provide mirrors-as-a-service, storage, dedicated servers (subject to status & availablity).

fosshost.org is a recognized, not-for-profit provider of free to use, accessible cloud-hosting services to the free and open source software community.

We exist through the kind donations of the general public and philanthropy of the hosting industry. The project is managed and coordinated by our founding owner, and a group of highly talented volunteers.

We provide virtual private servers, shared mirrors, storage and associated hosting services including domain registration to a diverse range of open source projects including ActivityPub (W3), Manjaro, XFCE, Xubuntu, The GNOME Project, Xiph.Org Foundation and more.

Typically projects will receive a virtual machine (or multiple) in each of our regions. All of our locations support IPV4 as standard, however we now support IPv6 in the US.
