This post explains & guides you through the more robust way to install the open sourced RPA based python package ClointFusion.

Before going into the content, checkout the post Automation with Python | ClointFusion, to have a glimpse on ClointFusion.

Alright, enough intro 😅, let's dive into the requirements pane.

Know the requirements 📜

Well, following were the recommended requirements for the package:

A 64-bit Windows 10 OS installed machine 💻.
At least of 3 to 4GB of free space 💽.
Python (version >= 3.8) 🐍
Anaconda Individual Distribution.(recommended for ML practitioners)
A Decent Internet Connection 📡.

Let's dive into the installation.

Install Python 🐍

Let's install Python.Please follow the steps given below

Remove older versions of Python if exists.
Download Python here
Make sure that you've checked Add Python to PATH and click Install Now
Within few moments, python will be installed in your machine.

Install ClointFusion

Well, with the successful installation of Python, it's time to install ClointFusion package.
Follow the instructions given below for a successful install.

Upgrade pip using the following command.

python -m pip install --upgrade pip

Install the ClointFusion package using the following command.

pip install --upgrade ClointFusion

Depending on your internet speed, this'll take some decent amount of time to install. Take a break/ Have a coffee ☕.

ClointFusion First Run/Self Test...!

With the dependencies installed, you've successfully installed ClointFusion package. Let's run the first self test. This test
runs a bunch of tests & checks whether the ClointFusion functions works fine with the current machine configuration.

Alright, Let's start the test.

Close all opened applications.
Open cmd and type python to open the python interpreter.
Enter the following command to import ClointFusion

import ClointFusion as cf

Within a few moments, you'll be welcomed with a prompt as shown in the picture below.
Give the necessary details and click on Start to start the self test.
Sit back & Relax till the self test gets completed.
While the self test runs, many applications like excel, notepad & browser will fire up automatically. Don't get panic 😨 . Contact the developers in case of any help needed.

Congratulations! 🎉,with that steps implemented you've successfully completed ClointFusion setup in your windows machine.

Install both Anaconda & Python | Windows

This post provides you a thorough description of how to install both the anaconda and python versions on your Windows computer, and how to access them individually.

✏ Introduction.

If you're reading this post, then you're either an ML enthusiast or an enthusiast like me to try various python distributions 😅.

As a python developer, there will be situations where one needs to work with more than one distributions of python. And it's known fact that accessing different distributions of python is a bit tricky and can be a hectic job for beginners. Well, after reading this post, hope you'll get a clear picture how to use both with ease.

📃 Requirements

A Windows 10 operating machine.
Python (any version).
Anaconda Distribution Package.

That's it.

In this scenario, I'll be using latest version of Python 3.9.1, however you're free to use any version of python.

Install Anaconda Distribution

Download the latest version of Anaconda Distribution here

Run the installer.
Make sure you have checked out Add Anaconda3 to my PATH environment variable. This provides the flexibility to access the distribution of anaconda python anywhere from the PC.
Click on Install. Hang on some time, the installation will take a while depending on your system performance.
Once installed, do a quick run of Anaconda Navigator and ensure it's running fine.

🐍 Install Python

Download the appropriate version python exe installer from here

Run the installer.
Make sure that you have checked out ADD Python to PATH.
Click on Customize installation and make few clicks on Next till you've got this page.
Choose a custom location other than the default. In this case I've choose D:\Python39.
Click on Install and hang on for few moments until it get installed.

🤔 How to Access Anaconda & Python from `cmd`?

Accessing Anaconda from `cmd`:

It's actually simple to access / activate anaconda distribution.

Open command prompt and use the following command to activate conda base environment.



conda activate base

Type python and you'll be welcomed with python from anaconda environment.
The (base) before the path indicates that conda environment is active.
To deactivate conda environment, use the following command



conda deactivate

Well, with that you've learned how to access/activate conda environment using cmd, let's look into accessing python environment using cmd.

Note: Every anaconda distribution comes with base environment. Any additional virtual environments created inside anaconda can be activated using the conda activate <envname>

Accessing Python from `cmd`:

A simple thing to remember here, just make sure that you're not in conda environment in order to access Native Python distribution.

Just type python or py to open the python interpreter.

📥 Install packages differently

With both the distributions installed, you have control on installing packages separately for each distribution.

To install any package/dependency in conda environment, use the following command



conda install <packageName>

To install any package/dependency in native python, use the following command



pip install <packageName>

This post discusses more on the open sourced python package ClointFusion which focusses mainly on Common man RPA.

What is RPA automation BTW? 🤔

Robotic process automation (or RPA) is a form of business process automation technology based on metaphorical software robots (bots) or on artificial intelligence (AI)/digital workers.[1] It is sometimes referred to as software robotics (not to be confused with robot software). Read more on RPA here on wikipedia.

What is ClointFusion?

Well, ClointFusion is an open sourced python based RPA package maintained by Cloint LLC which mainly targets on Common man RPA automation. Unlike, the other RPA providers out there, this package is cross-platform and lightweight i.e., if you can run python scripts in your machine, ClointFusion works there.

The entire package is open sourced, actively maintained, contributed & the code can be found here in Github. The package consists of nearly more than 100' RPA functions which'll make ease in developing user defined bots. Read more about ClointFusion here.

'Note: Though most of the functions works fine in all type of operating systems, some of the functions were specifically designed for Windows Operating System.

What can you do with ClointFusion?

The ClointFusion package offers versatility in the creation of smart bots covering different categories including Web, Excel, Citrix, Desktop, Mouse & Keyboard operations.

As of now, the package contains:

6 unique GUI based input functions.
8 unique Mouse operation functions.
6 functions focused on Folder operations.
21 functions focused on the operations of Excel.
2 functions on Screen scraping operations.
12 functions on Browser operations and much more.

A special function called semi-automatic mode is also included in the package, where the bot works silently in expert mode without the interaction of user (Non-GUI Mode) when it's set to ON. You are free to configure the operations of bot at each step, by setting the semi automatic mode OFF.

Get Started with WSL2...

This post will give a complete, easy way to enable Windows Subsystem for Linux(WSL) and upgrade to WSL2 in your Windows 10
system.

What's WSL?

WSL stands for Windows Subsystem for Linux is a project maintained by Microsoft that lets developers run supported GNU/Linux environment directly in your Windows Machine without the overhead of dual booting your PC or using a virtual Machine.

WSL vs WSL2?

The major difference between WSL and WSL2 is full support system call compatibility and increased file system performance.
According to Microsoft, WSL2 uses an actual full linux kernel running on a managed VM (virtual Machine) with fast boot times.

Enough theory, I know you're excited to install WSL in your windows machine, but before that check that your PC meets the requirements.

Requirements:

At least 4GB of RAM(Recommended 8GB of RAM).
Definitely a Windows 10 Machine.

Check your Windows Version here.
Open Command Prompt and type winver , a pop-up will be displayed that shows enough information about the current Windows Version and Build.

For x64 machines: Microsoft Windows Version 1903 or higher, with Build 18362 or higher (Recommended).
For ARM64 machines: Microsoft Windows Version 2004 or higher, with Build 19041 or higher (Recommended).

Not sure of what type of machine you've, Open command prompt or powershell and type systeminfo. The respective will be shown under "System Type". As you can see, My system is of type x64-based PC.

Not Sure Which version of windows you're using. Check for Windows Updates from Settings or use the Windows Update Assistant.

Install the WSL2..

Let's get into the installation part.

Open Start from search for Turn Windows features on or off.
Look for Virtual Machine Platform and Windows Subsystem for linux are checked.
Restart the system if needed.
If you're intended to use just WSL, head over to Install the Linux Distribution. Follow further instructions to install or update to WSL2.
In order to update to WSL2, you need to install the WSL2 kernel that can be find here.

for x64-based machine here
for ARM64 machine here

Set default version to WSL2

With the above step, you've successfully installed the WSL2. By default, your machine is set to WSL1. The following steps will let you to configure your machine to use WSL2

Open Powershell as adminstrator and enter the following command

wsl --set-default-version 2

If you got something like this below, you're good to go with the next section.
If you've encountered an error message such as WSL 2 requires an update to its kernel component. For information please visit https://aka.ms/wsl2kernel. You still need to install the kernel or try reinstalling the kernel after restarting the PC. (Still got errors comment down with the screenshot of error message. Happy to help)

Congratulations🎉!, with that steps done, you've successfully configured your machine to use WSL2 and lest with only one step i.e., Installing Linux distro.

Install a Linux Distro...

Microsoft store has a lots of linux distros that are readily available to download. I'll go with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Download the package from Microsoft Store

When it got installed, open the app and let the package set everything for you. Once it done, you'll be asked to enter new UNIX name and set a password.

Once it done, you'll be welcomed with the following details

Check whether your linux distro is running on WSL2.

These steps will let you know whether Ubuntu 20.4(in my case) is running on WSL2 or not.

Let the Ubuntu 20.04 app be running. Open cmd or powershell and enter the following command

wsl -l -v

If you got something like this, Bravo🎉 your linux distro is running on WSL2.
You're free to set your linux distro to either WSL or WSL2 by using the following command

wsl --set-version <distribution name> <versionNumber>

<versionNumber> should be either 1 or 2

Congratulations!🎉, with that steps done, you've successfully configured and installed WSL2 on your windows machine.
