Introduction

Hey Everyone,
Today I will be sharing my journey with Filebase with you all but before starting out anything let us first of all know what is Filebase so Filebase is the first S3-compatible object storage platform that allows you to store data in a secure, redundant, and performant manner across multiple decentralized storage networks.

 Why use Filebase?

Some of the primary benefits to use Filebase over other cloud providers out there today are:

Flat-rate price structure — Starting at $5.99/mo for just 1TB

No request or egress fees — People take this for granted and assume a pay-as-you-go model may be cheaper, but we’ve found customers like to interact with their data…. a lot.

 What is Sia?

Sia is one of the few legit projects in crypto that simply keeps on developing and expanding their offerings. While it still has a lot of room to improve, it is likely the leading decentralized cloud storage platform.
The Sia network is special because it has no signups, no servers, no trusted third parties and is the backbone for a data storage marketplace that aims to be more robust AND affordable than traditional cloud storage providers.
Now definitely I would love to compare between Amazon S3 and Filebase but first let's know what is Amazon S3

 Amazon S3

Amazon S3 has a simple web services interface that you can use to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It gives any developer access to the same highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of websites. The service aims to maximize benefits of scale and to pass those benefits on to developers.

While S3 is aimed at developers, the service can be used pretty much by anyone looking to store data. S3 became so popular among developers, that a lot of free, open source and paid alternatives exist today. Check the official documentation if you want to learn more about the technical details.

Why is Filebase better than Amazon S3??🤔

The main reason why Filebase is better than Amazon S3 is because it has Quite attractive pricing, free 5 GB plan and easy to use once setup. ALso with this it works at a fraction of the price you would pay with Amazon and with a nice UI for the initial setup.

 My Experiences!!!

 Setup & using Filebase

After this baseline research, I wanted to see how they actually implemented the first iteration of the product. I know the standard Sia experience very well and was keen to see how a commercially oriented service built on top of the Sia network would look and feel like.
This first test will probably be followed by a more in-depth article after the setup is up and running for a while. I also want to learn more about the technical details of the solution like encryption used and replication.

You can definitely visit this page to know more.

Filebase comes with a free 5 GB plan, i picked that one for testing. All you need for the sign-up is the typical data most internet service providers request. Name, e-mail and a password.
Creating your first bucket
After login, the first thing to do is create a bucket to store our files. Click the “Create bucket” button and give the bucket a name.

Some restrictions apply:
Bucket name must be unique across all Filebase users, be between 3 and 63 characters long, and can contain only lowercase characters, numbers, and dashes.
This is not a limitation of Filebase btw, but something that Amazon also imposes for S3 buckets.
Adding files and folders to your bucket
Since Filebase is compatible to S3, we have a couple of options how to interact with the service.
For my testing, I uploaded some files via their web interface first and then used https://cyberduck.io/ and a command line client to verify it worked as expected.

To access the S3 bucket via 3rd party tooling, you need some credentials that can be found on the account settings page of your Filebase account.

Read How to create a bucket here.

 GUI access test

For my first tests I used the software that was available on my laptop already. Cyberduck and Arq are both solid pieces of software and i happily paid for both.
No surprises during my basic testing, you can see the required settings for both programs below.

 Conclusion

I was really happy to know about Filebase and use it in some of my projects and I definetly would like to recommend any person who is reading the blog should give it a try.

Hey Everyone,
Today I will be talking to you about the Jina Swags and how awesome there repo and support system is , So lets start with what is Jina ?so as we all know that Deep learning technology is transforming how we interact with big data, whether for scientific applications, consumer software, or internal enterprise systems.

So Jina AI was started to create a solution ready to keep up with the emerging needs for all kinds of search. With the growing need to process huge quantities of data, Jina helps you stay on top of the ever-changing data landscape.

Now coming why is Jina AI even more exciting, it excites me even more because Jina AI gives you chance to win swags that too at your door step-:

So over all they have two categories of swags the first one is the Supporters and the second one are the Advocate .

So talkin about each category one by one-:

Supporter-: In this particular category all you gotta do is just star their repo and fork it and also join their discord server.
Then they give you a google form and verify your activities and voila you are eligible for a set of cool swags right at your door step.
Swags Earned-: Lovely Jina AI postcard, stickers and fridge magnets

Advocate-: In this particular category you need to contribute Jina in whatever possible way you can whether it be through a blog, newsletter or maybe a Valid PR contribution.
ALl you need to do is contribute.
Swags Earned-: Everything a supporter gets, plus a keyring, pen, A5 notebook and tote bag.

After all of the above doing you know what your category is so you fill the google form accordingly and just get the swags.

So that was how you can earn swags by Jina so easily just you need are good contribution skills.

Link to the main website for more details such as google forms-: Link

Date of Event -: 25 September 2021
Time: 10:00 P.M.
Meeting Host -: Eshan Gupta
Topic-: All about Hackathons & doubts, counselling session.

Hey,
So this was the first event that was conducted by me at VIT, Vellore and the session/event gained approximate 60+ participants and was of approximately of 2.5 hrs.

The event was really successful according to me as I was able to clear all the doubts that students had by the end of the session. Not only this the students were also very thankful to the host for organising such a session.

Later on students demanded for two more sessions in the coming days and I being the host also definetly plan to keep these events shortly. The topics for the demanded events were-:

Topic 1-: Introduction to Open Source and Github

Topic 2-: Introduction to LinkedIn

We had a loot of fun while the event lasted and many of the attendess approached and got connected with me after the event. Really it was a very nice experience guiding so many students at one time.

The event was successfull and I also told all the students about the Importance of Hackathons and that there is not a loot of knowledge required for attending any Hackathon. Some of the other topics that were discussed during the session are-:

Importance of Hackathons

What is HackThisFall?

Advantage of taking part in HackThisFall

Doubts related to VIT, Vellore

Tech Stacks to choose for coming years

Thats all that happened in the event and to sum up I really enjoyed conducting and handling so many people at a time.

THANKYOU😎

Hello Everyone,
Today I will be giving you a brief idea about the HTF Connects that are conducted every Wednesday around 9 p.m.,now this is gonna be a brief intro because I dont have enough words for discussing all of the discussions that have taken place in the past sessions. So without any further delay lets start with what is HTF?

 Introduction-:

HTF stands for Hack This Fall and its a Hackathon that is being organised in the month of October(22-24) and also its the second time this hackathon is being conducted nation wide. This hackathon currently has 1200+ people on its discord server and also approximately same number of people registered for the Hackathon. So I guess the hype is real and do not forget to get yourself registered at Hack This Fall

(P.S. also providing the website link as it also has tons of pre hack surprises hidden for you-: Official Website )

 HTF Connects😎-:

Now coming to HTF Connects, so HTF Connects are conducted every Wednesday at 9:00 P.M. IST and is open to all the community members whether you are part of organising team or not and we get to learn a loot of new things in every session conducted as our organiser Mr. Siddharth Dayalwal takes initiative and makes some experienced person join the call and if there is no expert joined in the call we communicate with the other members of the communnity and try to learn stuff from their experiences.

Overall the session is approximately an hour long and we get to learn a loot on different topics. Learning and listening to the views of different people in the community on all kinds of technical stuffs is a good opportunity for clearing the doubts.

And coming to the part that also excites me a loot apart from learning and gives me a push to join this weekly HTF Connects even if I am tired is that in each call HackThisFall has planned a Sticker Pack giveaway. All you need to do is just stay a little active during the session.
I feel learning is itself a very major advantage for the session but here we get learning with earning. So its a doubled advantage.

So summarising in the next few short points what we do at the session-:

Learning

Mentoring

QNA

Doubt CLearing

General topics to talk

Swag GiveAway

Fun

Now let us discuss what do we discuss in session. So to be honest there is no particular set of topics that we discuss and that is also the best part about it. Because you can give any topic of your choice, you can clear any of your doubts and get answers from other members of the community like recently few of the topics that we had discussed were-:

GSOC(Google Summer of Code)

Getting started with Open Source

Managing Content on LinkedIn

Projects vs CP
And many other small topics and doubts that other community members had.

 Conclusion-:
