Creating a personal portfolio is one of the best ways to apply what you've learned as a frontend developer. I recently completed mine, and in this post, I'll share how I designed and developed it from the ground up — no frameworks, just raw HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

🎯 Project Goals

I had four main goals when building this portfolio:

✅ Make it mobile-first and fully responsive
✅ Use only semantic HTML tags
✅ Keep the design clean and minimalist
✅ Use JavaScript to add interactivity and dynamically generate project sections

🧠 Planning the Structure

Before touching any code, I mapped out the structure:

A hero section with my name and title
A navigation menu that adapts to mobile screens
A projects section dynamically rendered from an array
A contact section with links and form (optional)

I also followed best practices with semantic tags like <header>, <section>, <article>, <nav>, and <footer>.

🎨 Styling with CSS

I used Flexbox and Grid for layout.
All styles were built mobile-first, then scaled up for tablets and desktops with media queries.
I used variables for consistent theming, shadows, border-radius, and hover effects.

Bonus: I added smooth scrolling and a subtle color scheme to keep the interface soft and modern.

My sections were simple:

Hero
About
Projects
Contact

😅 Real Talk: The Struggles

Dynamically generating project cards was tough one.
Having my way with css grid was tactical.
Making the navbar responsive took trial and error.
Javascript in a way.

But you know what? I finished. And that matters more than perfect.

✨ What I Learned

You don’t need frameworks to make something amazing.
Semantic HTML and clean CSS go a long way.
JavaScript becomes fun when you're building something real.
