UI cards should be easy to read

Recently, I came across a discussion in a design group where a fellow designer was trying to make UI cards the focal point of a website.

In some examples, she added lots of shadows and colorful strokes to the cards—but the results weren’t coming out well.

I reminded her that UI cards are meant to be simple to read and easy to understand by users.
Instead of overloading the cards with extra effects, an engaging and bold header placed above them can naturally draw the user's attention and truly make it the focal point.

Her response?

"I thought about that too, but I will bring it up again in the meeting."

It was great to see her confidence restored by embracing a simpler, more effective solution.

Sometimes, the best design approach is to keep it clean and user-friendly

Hello! My name is Tolulope Ajewole, and as a junior designer with ambitious aspirations for the next two years, I've mapped out clear objectives to enhance my skills, accumulate valuable experience, and network within the design community. Additionally, I have some personal milestones I'm eager to achieve. To make my journey comprehensible, I created an infographic that outlines my plans and key milestones.

I developed an infographic to showcase my professional and personal goals for the upcoming two years. It details the steps I intend to take and the skills I aim to develop.
Why We Need to Shine a Spotlight on Conversation Designers in Today’s Job Market

In today’s fast-paced world of tech and communication, conversation designers are playing an increasingly vital role. But here’s the thing – they need more visibility in the job market, and here’s why it’s so darn important:

Imagine chatting with a bot or using an app that feels like talking to a friend. That’s the magic conversation designers bring – they make the interaction between humans and technology feel natural and smooth, whether you’re on your phone or using a fancy gadget.

Ever found yourself hooked on a chat or unable to put down your phone? That’s probably because a conversation designer somewhere crafted an experience that keeps you engaged and coming back for more. They’re like the puppet masters behind the scenes, pulling the strings to keep you hooked.

And let’s not forget about those AI-powered chatbots. Yep, conversation designers are the ones making sure those bots sound less like robots and more like real people. They’re the ones adding that human touch to technology.

But it’s not just about making things sound good – conversation designers also work closely with other teams, like developers and designers, to make sure everything runs smoothly. They’re the glue that holds everything together.

And guess what? A well-designed conversation can do wonders for a business – think increased sales, happier customers, and a stronger brand. So, it’s no surprise that companies are scrambling to hire skilled conversation designers left, right, and center.

But it’s not just about the business stuff – conversation designers are also pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in human-computer interaction. They’re the ones dreaming up new ways for us to connect with technology, making our lives easier and more fun along the way.

So, here’s the bottom line: we need to shine a bright spotlight on conversation designers in the job market. They’re the unsung heroes of the tech world, and without them, our interactions with technology just wouldn’t be the same.

As a junior product designer, I’m on a mission to make my designs not just visually appealing but also accessible to everyone.

Accessibility isn’t just a checkbox — it’s about making sure everyone, regardless of their abilities, can use what I create.

From considering color contrast to ensuring keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility, I’m dedicated to making sure my designs work for everyone. Incorporating AI and voice assistant technologies further enhances accessibility by providing alternative means of interaction for individuals with diverse needs.

By leveraging AI, users can navigate through interfaces using voice commands, making it easier for those with mobility impairments to interact with digital products. Voice assistants also offer real-time assistance, aiding users in performing tasks efficiently and independently.

Moreover, AI-powered features like natural language processing (NLP) enable more inclusive communication experiences, allowing users to interact with applications using their preferred language or communication style.

And hey, testing with a diverse group of users helps me fine-tune my designs to be even more inclusive. Because let’s face it, accessibility isn’t just an afterthought — it’s at the core of great design!

So, by embracing AI and voice assistant designs, I'm not only ensuring accessibility but also striving to create user experiences that are seamless, intuitive, and empowering for all.

Think of it like setting the mood for a conversation. Compelling headers can make visitors feel excited, curious, or even inspired to learn more.

They’re like the friendly introduction that gets people interested in what you have to say or offer.
