Hi folks of Dev community, a long time has passed since our last update. This community has shown so much love to our product that I wanted to give you an update on the state of our self-hosted analytics dashboard project.

We’ve revamped our user experience and our user interface from zero to make it extremely compelling. We’ve added powerful features to make it complete, and everything is self-hostable with one command: “docker compose up” and you’re done… a dashboard that is easy to use and powerful, without the hassle of setting it up in any technology you’re currently using.

 Self-Hosting Made Simple With Docker

Everything is self-hostable with one command:

docker compose up

And you're done.
A dashboard that is easy to use and powerful, without the hassle of setting it up in any technology you’re currently using.

 All Features Available in Litlyx

Visitors tracking

Product analytics & custom events tracking

Customizable reports with your brand in one click

Ethical marketing with UTM tracking

Shields feature that allows you to blacklist IPs and domains

Workspace member management with permissions

Unlimited domains per workspace with single-domain handling

An AI chat to query your data in a simple way

An European Alternative to Google Analytics

We created Litlyx to be a European alternative to Google Analytics and to the older tools that are not innovating enough, like Plausible, Umami, and Matomo.

For developers — especially those building with Nuxt — the ability to self-host analytics easily, without external scripts slowing down your app, without cookies, and with clean API endpoints makes the entire experience much smoother.

How Do We Differ From Google Analytics?

I’ll keep it short, but here’s a quick summary of our values:

Litlyx is anonymous

Litlyx doesn’t use cookies

All data remains yours

You can skip the consent banner

You gain back 100% of traffic tracking

Reports and insights are actionable with one click

We know we can’t compete with giants and their systems, but we like being the underdog…

It’s where innovation is raw, and where we can ask all our users (especially developers) what they really want.

 Repository & Website

GitHub: https://github.com/litlyx/litlyx

Website: https://litlyx.com

Thank you for your attention.

Antonio, CEO at Litlyx Analytics

I built Litlyx because I was done with all the other tools.

“I just wanted to know who's using my product — not trade their privacy for it.”

When I started working on Litlyx, I wasn’t trying to reinvent analytics. I just wanted something that made sense.

Something that didn’t need a PhD to read a dashboard.

Something that didn’t need a cookie banner.

And if it was privacy-foucsed... something that don't look like 2005 UI.

Spoiler: I couldn’t find it.

What I tried (and why I moved on):

Google Analytics → bloated, old, and honestly… not cool anymore.

Plausible → great product, but I needed more technical flexibility and UI is the same from 10 years.

Umami, Matomo, etc. → good stuff, but too focused on passive reports and their UX is steady from early 2000s.

So I built Litlyx —

A privacy-first, developer-friendly, and open-source alternative to traditional analytics.

 What makes Litlyx different?

Setup in 30 seconds — no BS. One script and done.

100% cookie-free & GDPR compliant — even when self-hosted.

Custom event tracking — works with plain JS or TypeScript.

Built-in AI assistant — ask stuff like "What are my best converting pages?"

Made for modern stacks — Vue, Nuxt, React, Laravel, you name it.

Why am I writing this here?

Because I know I'm not alone.

There are other devs, indie hackers, and small agencies out there who:

want clear data without creepy tracking,

need to track events without writing 10 files,

want to show real results to clients — without sacrificing privacy.

 Sound like you?

Litlyx is open-source, and you can try it for free.

🧪 Check out litlyx.com

👨‍💻 Or dive into the code on GitHub

If you’re building something meaningful...

you deserve an analytics tool that doesn’t betray you and your users.

If you give it a shot, I’d love to hear what you think.

Litlyx is the most easy and developer friendly GA4 Alternative. Our philosophy

At Litlyx, the "why" behind every decision we make, especially in our software, is extremely important to us.

Below, we’ve outlined our key principles.

 Litlyx Philosophy

User experience and design principles behind every single decision at Litlyx.

 1. Simplicity First

Most startups play it safe.
They sell to big companies because it’s easier.
We didn’t build Litlyx to be safe… we built it for the 99%.
Solo founders, small teams, small to medium businesses, startups.
They deserve simple, powerful tools at a fair price.
Simplicity isn’t a feature. It’s the core.
When something is truly simple, it becomes great.

 2. Obsession with UX

You shouldn’t need a guide to use software.
Great products feel natural.
We make hard choices behind the scenes so your experience stays smooth.
Every screen, every click, every detail matters.
Friction must be zero because it kills flow.
And speed means nothing if it doesn’t feel good.

 3. Radical Transparency

We build in public because it’s how we learned… open source shaped us.
Now it’s our turn to share.
You’ll always know what we’re building and why.
No tricks, no hiding.
Open is our default.
Transparency is not a trend. It’s a promise.

 4. Speed is a Feature

If it’s slow, it fails.
Speed builds trust.
We make Litlyx fast… from first load to full report.
Even if it means more work for us, it’s worth it.
Because fast feels right to you.
And the web should feel fast again.

 5. Human at the Center

We don’t build for “users.”
We build for people.
Technology should adapt to humans, not the other way around.
Every choice we make starts with empathy.
We have a mascot not to look cool… but to remind us who we’re building for.
Behind every click, there’s a real person.

 6. Crafted to the Pixel

Details matter.
Most people don’t see them… but they feel them.
We see them. We obsess over them.
Design is not decoration. It’s clarity.
When it’s done right, you don’t notice the parts.
You just enjoy the whole.

 7. Privacy is Sacred

Privacy isn’t a feature. It’s the default.
We don’t sell data. We don’t track for profit.
Everything we build protects your rights and your users… by design.
You don’t have to give personal data away.
We’ll help you with that!

Hey folks, I'm Antonio, CEO at Litlyx.

If you're a product person, you know what it means to refactor your code. It's essential for shipping features faster, testing more effectively, and maintaining your codebase over time.

You'll lose at least a month and a half to refactor a decent-sized codebase, but it's worth doing while things are still manageable... before you end up rewriting everything from scratch.

Most startups rewrite everything because it feels easier than refactoring. But if you can afford a couple of months, it's a great opportunity to clear out some technical debt... because unfortunately, debt always needs to be repaid at some point.

What’s your take on refactoring? Drop it below!

Top 7 Website Analytics Tools for May 2025

In 2025, website analytics tools are evolving to prioritize privacy, performance, and user experience. Whether you're building for clients or running your own SaaS, here are 7 top tools worth considering this month:

 1. Litlyx – Privacy-first, AI-powered analytics

Litlyx is a lightweight, privacy-focused analytics platform built for modern teams. Real-time dashboards, AI summaries, and a cookieless approach make it a serious alternative to legacy tools. Perfect for solo builders, indie hackers, and agencies managing multiple sites.

 2. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) – Industry Standard

Google Analytics remains the most feature-rich analytics tool on the market, with powerful tracking and reporting across web and mobile. However, its complexity and privacy concerns push some users toward simpler alternatives.

 3. Matomo – 100% data ownership

Matomo is an open-source analytics platform you can self-host or use in the cloud. With heatmaps, session recordings, and GDPR compliance, it's perfect for organizations that need control over their data.

 4. Plausible Analytics – Lightweight and open-source

Plausible is known for its clean UI and cookie-free tracking. It's ideal for those who want fast insights without user profiling. Developers love its open-source codebase and simple integration.

Fathom offers beautiful dashboards, instant load times, and strict privacy compliance. It’s a paid tool with a clear focus on simplicity and ethical data collection.

Clicky has been around for a long time and is loved for its real-time detail and classic dashboard. Not as modern-looking as others, but still highly functional and customizable.

 7. Simple Analytics – Clean, privacy-friendly metrics

Vibe Coding Needs Vibe Analytics

Hi, I'm Antonio, CEO at Litlyx

The developer landscape is changing fast.

Just 10 years ago, only developers could build technical tools.

Today, with the rise of tools like Cursor, ChatGPT, and Lovable ... building online has never been easier.

We’re entering the era of what I like to call the “Monolith AI Codebase”, where tools need to be plug-and-play, with zero friction.

But here’s the catch:

Most of the new builders don’t come from a traditional software background. They might lack architectural knowledge, but they get one thing:

Speed wins.

At Litlyx, we’re bringing freshness and simplicity to the outdated, overly complex world of website analytics.

 Here's where we shine:

One-line setup across any tech stack

Super clear docs to get started fast

A clean dashboard that shows exactly what matters

An AI assistant to chat with your data like it’s 2025 (because, well, it is)

If you’re ready to vibe with your analytics, give us a spin right here. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Vibe Analytics is born. Simple, Reliable and GDPR complaint.

Hey, I’m Antonio — CEO @ Litlyx

Ever opened Google Analytics and felt completely overwhelmed?

Wondered why something as basic as tracking visitors has to be a PhD‑level task?

Same here.

So, six months ago we started building Litlyx — a privacy‑first analytics tool that trades complexity for clarity.

 Why we built it

Zero‑headache setup. Paste one script tag, done.

Crystal‑clear dashboards. No hunting for the one metric you actually care about.

No jargon, no fluff. Just the insights that move the needle.

 Where Litlyx is awesome!

30 seconds setup with every JS frameworks or on Wordpress + Elementor

Custom events tracking

Granular members permissions

One-click report (think cohorts & funnels)

 What’s next

🛍️ Shopify plug‑in

🔗 Sharable links for live dashboards

📊 Richer reports (think cohorts & funnels)

🤖 AI‑powered action items right inside the UI

 Kick the tires

Dive into the product at litlyx.com.

See under the hood on GitHub.

Give it a try and tell us what you think... we’re building this for you.

PORN Stack is Born... Pay attention please!

Have You Heard of the PORN Stack? 🤯

I don’t know if you’ve come across the PORN Stack yet, but here’s the deal:

PostgreSQL, OpenAI, React, and Next.js—together, they form an acronym that everyone recognizes. A bit controversial? Maybe. Addictive? Possibly. But undeniably powerful for building high-velocity apps.

Let’s break it down:

PostgreSQL – A powerful, open-source relational database known for its reliability, scalability, and extensibility. It supports JSON, full-text search, and even vector data (
pgvector
) for AI-driven applications.

OpenAI – Provides access to cutting-edge LLMs with a simple API. And since many models now strive for OpenAI API compatibility, it’s easy to swap in alternatives when needed.

React – A mature JavaScript library that continues to evolve at a rapid pace, proving its staying power in frontend development.

Next.js – A versatile, full-stack framework that enables different rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR) at the page level, making it incredibly flexible.

At Litlyx, we don’t use any of these technologies (just Next.js sometimes when i need to quick prototype a landing page for a specific reason).
Not because they’re bad—but because they’re too good to be used.

Instead, we prefer something even more stimulating and challenging: Nuxt 3 with Vue, enhanced with Tailwind CSS for styling and TypeScript for type safety. Now that’s what we call a NVTT stack.

What do you think about PORN stack? What about our NVTT Stack?
Comment down below!

Litlyx now has a light mode!

It was one of the most requested features on Litlyx until today!

As a developer, I often assume that light mode is outdated since many people prefer dark mode in my world. But then, a friend of mine, a growth hacker, shared one of the most astonishing insights I've ever heard...

Light mode landing pages convert better than dark ones.

I was completely wrong! While I still prefer a dark brand identity for its elegance, I’ve decided to ensure our product supports a light mode as well.

Hope you find this mini-post useful.
