Hi folks of Dev community, a long time has passed since our last update. This community has shown so much love to our product that I wanted to give you an update on the state of our self-hosted analytics dashboard project.

We’ve revamped our user experience and our user interface from zero to make it extremely compelling. We created Litlyx to be a European alternative to Google Analytics and to the older tools that are not innovating enough, like Plausible, Umami, and Matomo.

For developers — especially those building with Nuxt — the ability to self-host analytics easily, without external scripts slowing down your app, without cookies, and with clean API endpoints makes the entire experience much smoother.

“I just wanted to know who's using my product — not trade their privacy for it.”

When I started working on Litlyx, I wasn’t trying to reinvent analytics. I just wanted something that made sense.

Something that didn’t need a PhD to read a dashboard.
Something that didn’t need a cookie banner.
And if it was privacy-foucsed... something that don't look like 2005 UI.

Spoiler: I couldn’t find it.

What I tried (and why I moved on):

Google Analytics → bloated, old, and honestly… not cool anymore.
Plausible → great product, but I needed more technical flexibility and UI is the same from 10 years.
Umami, Matomo, etc. → good stuff, but too focused on passive reports and their UX is steady from early 2000s.

So I built Litlyx —

A privacy-first, developer-friendly, and open-source alternative to traditional analytics.

1. Simplicity First

Most startups play it safe. They sell to big companies because it’s easier. We didn’t build Litlyx to be safe… we built it for the 99%. Solo founders, small teams, small to medium businesses, startups. They deserve simple, powerful tools at a fair price. Simplicity isn’t a feature. It’s the core. When something is truly simple, it becomes great.

2. Obsession with UX

You shouldn’t need a guide to use software. Great products feel natural. We make hard choices behind the scenes so your experience stays smooth. Every screen, every click, every detail matters. Friction must be zero because it kills flow. And speed means nothing if it doesn’t feel good.

3. Radical Transparency

We build in public because it’s how we learned… open source shaped us. Now it’s our turn to share. You’ll always know what we’re building and why. No tricks, no hiding. Open is our default. Transparency is not a trend. It’s a promise.

4. Speed is a Feature

If it’s slow, it fails. Speed builds trust. We make Litlyx fast… from first load to full report. Even if it means more work for us, it’s worth it. Because fast feels right to you. And the web should feel fast again.

Hey folks, I'm Antonio, CEO at Litlyx.

If you're a product person, you know what it means to refactor your code. It's essential for shipping features faster, testing more effectively, and maintaining your codebase over time.

You'll lose at least a month and a half to refactor a decent-sized codebase, but it's worth doing while things are still manageable... before you end up rewriting everything from scratch.

Most startups rewrite everything because it feels easier than refactoring. But if you can afford a couple of months, it's a great opportunity to clear out some technical debt... because unfortunately, debt always needs to be repaid at some point.

Have You Heard of the PORN Stack? 🤯

I don’t know if you’ve come across the PORN Stack yet, but here’s the deal:

PostgreSQL, OpenAI, React, and Next.js—together, they form an acronym that everyone recognizes. A bit controversial? Maybe. Addictive? Possibly. But undeniably powerful for building high-velocity apps.

Let’s break it down:

PostgreSQL – A powerful, open-source relational database known for its reliability, scalability, and extensibility. It supports JSON, full-text search, and even vector data (pgvector) for AI-driven applications.
OpenAI – Provides access to cutting-edge LLMs with a simple API. And since many models now strive for OpenAI API compatibility, it’s easy to swap in alternatives when needed.
React – A mature JavaScript library that continues to evolve at a rapid pace, proving its staying power in frontend development.
Next.js – A versatile, full-stack framework that enables different rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR) at the page level, making it incredibly flexible.

At Litlyx, we don’t use any of these technologies (just Next.js sometimes when i need to quick prototype a landing page for a specific reason).
Not because they’re bad—but because they’re too good to be used.

Instead, we prefer something even more stimulating and challenging: Nuxt 3 with Vue, enhanced with Tailwind CSS for styling and TypeScript for type safety. Now that’s what we call a NVTT stack.

It was one of the most requested features on Litlyx until today!

As a developer, I often assume that light mode is outdated since many people prefer dark mode in my world. But then, a friend of mine, a growth hacker, shared one of the most astonishing insights I've ever heard...

Light mode landing pages convert better than dark ones.

I was completely wrong! While I still prefer a dark brand identity for its elegance, I’ve decided to ensure our product supports a light mode as well.
