The Incredible Diana

Hi Diana. My name is Antonia and I discovered you through Twitter. I was actually really impressed from your passion around social media and games. How all this started?

Hi, nice to meet you too! I know about programming because my mom is a programmer and I want to learn more about computers. For example how to make games and animations for other children.

That's very nice! And how do you take advantage of a computer?

All my classes are online because of coronavirus. I watch tutorials on YouTube when I want to learn Scratch. Also, I practice HTML, CSS, Animoto and other things. I chat with my friends and I learn JavaScript basics in Grasshopper game.

I am impressed Diana! Well done with all this progress. How did you first discovered Scratch?

Thank you .. well .. my mom had planned for it.

Sounds logical because she is a programmer. And what about the great "strawberry" game that you created? How you came up with the idea?

I watched a similar game on YouTube. I created it, then because it was very simple and there were some bad codes in it, I tried to add more features and removed duplicates in code.

Yes your code it's a really good one. I played the game and I took many yellow strawberries(laugh). Also I saw that you created your own website using HTML & CSS. Did you enjoyed it? What did you liked the most?

You must practice. Yellow strawberries are too many. I wanted to add some bombs too.

Yes. I want to make my website to share my videos, drawings, photos and so. CSS animation is also very interesting. I love what @jh3yy creates. @BerishaGjonson taught me HTML and CSS for 2 hours, the other day and I practiced more with my mom. Before that, I didn't know how websites were made. This was interesting.

And what about Twitter? How you decided to post your creations in it?

I wanted to show my creations to other people, maybe they like it. Also, I follow #100DaysOfCode and report in twitter what I do almost every day.
My mom had twitter account and I saw a lot of programmers are there but I'm afraid there are a few children. Twitter doesn't let children to use it. My first account was blocked because I was a child.
I love to have thousands followers in Twitter. Now my followers are more than my mom's.

Do you think that computers are useful to other kids like you?

Yes. I think computers are useful for everybody.

I agree!! Do you have any other future plans around computers? Something you want to learn?

I love designing. I want to know more about CSS.

If you like design and drawings you gonna love CSS.
Thank you Diana for all your time and for your answers! It was a pleasure meeting you!
I hope you learn as more as you can!

Thank you. Nice to meet you too!

Using Seesaw To Balance

It’s a super simple activity and any child can build it.

Materials:

Lego Bricks

Nuts, Rice, Lentils

Creativity

Let your kid build a seesaw like the picture and at the edges you can create two lego baskets. Inside the baskets you can put little items and balance them to see which one is more heavy.

**For the complete lesson you can contact me by email:
antonia.symeonidou@outlook.com

Instead of using laptops or tablets . . . i am using images, arrows and robots to teach kids how to code. It's easy cause you only need to combine fantasy with new technologies.

You gonna be amazed how smart your kid is and how many things can achieve only in the age of 4.

Why your kid need this:

Can explore, interact and communicate.

Can combine maths with calculating steps.

Develop language and numerical skills.

Can do debugging with complex challenges.

You can contact me via emai: antonia.symeonidou@outlook.com for video call lesson.

The internet is a huge danger for your kids. Parents all over the world you must be really carefull and protect the kids by making your computers safe.

Spend time reviewing the websites your child has viewed and
set security measures and controls.

Set as home page something they like.

Put all their web pages into favourites tab.

Speak to them about online chatting.

TIP: WRITE DOWN SOME RULES THAT THE KID MUST FOLLOW AND STICK IT NEAR THE COMPUTER SCREEN.

Lego For Coding

Are you a parent?
Are you an uncle?
Are you a grandpa?
Are you a teacher?

Put away the books and computers for a while and start to think how you can teach your kid to code using Lego.
Although Lego is expensive, you can find used ones but cheaper and in good condition.

Exercise: Tell your child to build a robot with lego bricks and then let them try doing the same from scratch.

Questions to ask the kid:

What have you build?

How many blocks did you use?

Why you repeated some block colours?

If i try to build it from where should i begin?

For more exercises contact me.
* I can teach your child via video call or face2face.

Coding is also for kids

Does your kid own a mobile phone?
Does your kid spend hours playing video games?

If the answer is yes, it's your lucky day.
You can take advantage of the new technology and learn your kid to code without coding exactly.

Example:
Let your kid think that it's a superhero and has a mision in this world. Let the kid draw the mission in a paper with details of the beginning and ending of it's journey. Then it can right down with numbers the following path.

For more info and details about the game you can send me an email: antonia.symeonidou@outlook.com
