Disappointment in oneself after failing

You know that sting when you believe you can do something well and then you trip and fall at the first step? Really stings, and that just happened to me.

I got a chance to apply for a programming internship for a company, they send a coding challenge to all participants, which is a whole other issue I won't touch on now, and they do offer a tutorial challenge on how the online IDE works, I completed that challenge with relative ease and in 5 minutes, but the actual challenge takes 50 minutes max, and it was constructed around stack logic, which is one of my Achilles' heel. I stared at the problem for 5 minutes and promptly gave up. Not because I give up easily, but I am not rated for this kind of challenge right about now.

I did have a chance to grind some challenges out to warm up that muscle, and then attempt it, but my impatience cost me this opportunity.

Just wanted to share that, good luck to all of you who are trying to make something of themselves in this economy.

Do you guys think that learning about programming from scratch is extremely difficult, but day to day paid programming work is easier? I haven't been paid for any programming work just yet, but it seems programming is one of those professions that you can't just pick it up and go your way, it demands time and respect. What do you all think? I'd love to hear more experienced people's opinions.

Start of a new career

Hey everybody, this is Uğur aka. LoneCoder. I basically want to publicly document my journey to become a bona fide software developer and make a living. Fun fact: I would be the first software developer in my bloodline. I'm currently building a rainwater quality measurer using Python and several public APIs to calculate the quality of rainwater in a given city. The program currently checks your IP to find your city, but it can get inconsistent so I also added a fallback so the user can specify their city, and the program "should" guesstimate the rainwater quality based on a few metrics such as air quality, humidity, altitude, nearby construction zones and so on. The project is in an early stage so far so it does need a bit more work. Here's the repo link if you're interested at all: https://github.com/Allkindoflower/rainwater_quality_measurer
That's it for now, I'll see you in the next one
PS: I do need someone who knows their stuff when it comes to hydrology and statistics, because I'm not sure which metric weighs in how much, so please let me know if you have ideas! You can contact me at bastugugur85@gmail.com

Hey there, I'm trying to become job-ready in the industry and I have been tweaking my GitHub README page. I'd appreciate it if I could have some experienced eyes review it and give me feedback on how to make it better.
