AWS cloudWatch: Monitoring Your Resources Made Easy

Amazon CloudWatch is like a watchdog that helps you monitor your resources in the Cloud. Amazon CloudWatch helps you to know the state of your resources in the cloud, CloudWatch gathers information (Metrics) about your services such as the state of the CPU, state of the memory and traffic, and display them in the dashboard.

CloudWatch notifies you when your EC2 server is overwhelmed.

CloudWatch detects issues and solve them immediately and ensures everything is fine with your Cloud resources.
In this article, you are going to learn how to create and set up CloudWatch to monitor your Cloud resources.
For you to use CloudWatch, you must have created an AWS resource. firstly, let create an EC2 instance.

1.Sign in to your AWS Console and type EC2 to the search bar and click EC2

2.Click Launch instance

3.Give the EC2 instance a name. In this article, we are going to name it BravoEC2

4.Scroll down a little to create Key pair

5.Give the Keypair a name and click create Keypair

6.Click Launch instance

7.You have successfully created an EC2 instance

8.Now, click connect to instance

9.Scroll down a little and click connect

10.You are now connected to your Amazon Linux image

11.Sudo su into the EC2 instance

12.Go to your AWS console, type CloudWatch and click CloudWatch from the options it shows

13.Click Metrics and select All metrics

14.Click EC2

15.Click per-instance metrics

16.Scroll down a little and click the small box in front of CPUUtiliztion

17.Go to the AWS search bar and SNS and select Simple Notification Service

18.Click Topic

19.Click create topic at the top right corner of your screen

20.Click Standard and give the topic a name

21.SCroll down and click Create topic

With what we have created, if anything happens to your EC2 instance, you will receive an alert but this is not complete without creating a subscription.

22.Create a subscription
Still on the alert page, click create Subscription

23.Click the dropdown arrow and select Email fill in your Email address into the endpoint and click Create Subscription. Note: you may choose other means of notification

Note: You need to confirm your subscription. Click confirm subscription, open the subscription message that was sent by AWS to your Email address, scroll down and click on confirm subscription

copy the url and paste it here.

Go to CloudWatch and create an alarm

24.Type CloudWatch to the search bar and select CloudWatch

25.Inside CloudWatch, click Alarms and Click All alarms

26.Click create alarm

27.Click select metrics

28.Click on EC2

29.Select per-instance metrics

30.Scroll down and click the small box in front of CPUUtilization

31.Click select metrics

Set the condition

32.If the CPUUtilization exceed 75% threshold for 5 minutes, it should send a message

33.Scroll down and click Next

34.Select an SNS ( Simple Notification Service )

35.Scroll down and click Next

36.Give the Alarm a name

37.Scroll down and click Next

38.Scroll down and click Create Alarm

You have successfully created an Alarm. A message is expected to be sent to the used Email address when the instance usage exceed 75% Threshold within 5 minutes.

39.Now, stress the instance in order to see the message that will be sent to the used Email address.

To stress the instance

Run this command to stress the instance
sudo yum install stress -y

When the installation of the stress is complete, run this command
stress --cpu 2 --timeout 300

This command increases the CPU usage by 2 which make the CPU utilization exceed the Threshold that is set in the CoudWatch alarm.

Check your box for the Email notification, a message showing high CPU usage should be sent.

What does it mean to deploy a Scalable Web App?

Deploying a scalable web app is building and launching an App that can manage increased traffic, user growth, or data demands without crashing.

What is Scalability in Cloud Computing?

Handling traffic spikes: Your app can handle sudden surges in visitors or requests.
Growing with users: Your app adjusts as more users sign up or data grows.
Staying performant: Pages load fast, and features work smoothly.

Scalability is all about

Using cloud services (like Azure App Services!) that auto-adjust resources. Auto- scaling adjusts Resources base on traffic
Designing the app to distribute load (e.g., multiple servers) Load balancing distributes traffic across instances
Scaling out adds more instance as needed

How do I build and deploy an App in Azure?

1.Type App Services to the search bar of your Azure portal and select App Services from the options it displays

2.Click +create and select Web App

3.Click create new and give your Resource group a name and click OK

4.Scroll down a little to instance details and fill in the name, select the publish. but in this article, we are selecting code. Click the dropdown sign to select a Runtime stack and also select a Region.

5.For the Runtime stack, choose .NET10 (NOTE: Any of the .NET is fine)
Choosing .NET changes the Operating System to Windows.

6.Click on the dropdown sign and choose a Region

7.Scroll down to pricing plans. The pricing plans determines the location, features, cost and compute resources that will be associated with your App. Click the dropdown sign and make a selection, but in this article, we are selecting Basics

8.Click Review + create

9.Click create

10.Wait for the deployment to complete, then click Go to resource

11.This is the App we just created. now, click the default domain link

12.This shows we have created an App but it is still empty which is why it shows Your Web App is running and waiting for your content

13.Go to ChatGPT. The App we created is empty and we need to fill it up. Now, type a prompt to chatGPT to generate a code for the kind of Application you want to build. In this article, we are building a King James Bible Application, so this is the prompt we are using "create for me an html, css, and java script code for King James Bible and click the submit arrow.

14.When it finishes, copy the code

15.Type advanced tools to the small search bar of your screen, select Advanced tools and click Go

16.Click Debug console and select powershell

17.Click site

18.Click wwwroot

19.Click edit (the pencil icon)

20.Now, remove anything you see on this page and replace it with the code you copied from chatGPT

21.Click save

22.Go back to Azure portal, click Home and select App Services

23.Click the App you created

24.Click the default domain link of the App you created

25.This is the KJV Bible Application we created from Azure App Services

AWS Elastic Beanstalk: A Beginner's Guide To Effortless Scaling

What is Elastic Beanstalk?

Elastic Beanstalk is a service by AWS that makes it easy to deploy and manage web apps. You upload your code, and it takes care of the:

Server setup & configuration
Scaling (auto-adjusts resources)
Load balancing
Monitoring & health checks

Elastic Beanstalk supports popular frameworks like Node.js, Python, Ruby, etc. You focus on coding, it takes care of the infrastructure.

Now, let us learn how to create, deploy and manage Web apps with Elastic Beanstalk.
1.Open your AWS console and type Elastic Beanstalk to the search bar and select Elastic Beanstalk

2.Click create application

3.Select webserver environment and go to Application information to give the App a name, in this article, we are going to name it MoonApp

4.Scroll down to platform, click the dropdown and select Node.js (Note: you can select any option of your choice)

5.Scroll down and click Next

6.Click create role to create service role
Service role: It is an IAM (Identity and Access Management) that allows a service to perform actions on your behalf.
EC2 instance profile This works with EC2 instances. It is a container for an IAM role that can be attached to an EC2 instance when it is launched.

7.Leave everything as default, scroll down and click Next

8.Click Next

9.SCroll down and click create role

We have successfully created Service role

10.Go back to the previous page and refresh. When you refresh, the Service role pops up by itself and if it does not pop up, you can click the dropdown arrow and select the service role that was created.

11.Now we are creating EC2 instance profile. click create role

12.Scroll down and click Next

13.Click Next

14.Give the instance role a name, then Scroll down and click Create role

We have successfully created the EC2 instance role.

15.Go back to the previous page and refresh for the instance profile we created to come up

16.Let us create key pair. To create key pair, open your AWS console in another tab, type key pairs to the search bar and select key pairs NOTE: You can select from the list of your Key pair if you have any.

17.Click create key pair

18.Give the Key pair a name. In this article, we are naming it moonkey

19.Scroll down and click create key pair

20.Go back and refresh and select the key pair we created. After refreshing, click the dropdown arrow to select the Key pair

21.Click Next

22.Click the dropdown arrow and select the default VPC. Also, enable the public IP address.

23.For the instance subnet, select a region

24.Scroll down and click Next

25.Scroll down to the EC2 security groups, click the dropdown arrow and select the default security group

26.Scroll down and click Next

27.Leave the Health reporting as Enhanced

28.Scroll down and click Next

29.Scroll down and click Create

30.The App environment has been successfully launched. Click on the domain link

31.This is an evidence that we have built an application

Let us check other things that Elastic Beanstalk has created for us

32.Type EC2 to the search bar pf your AWS console and select EC2

33.Click view dashboard

34.Click instances (running)

35.Click the name of the App

36.Click connect

37.Come down to the right corner of your screen and click connect

38.This is the EC2 instance that was created by Elastic Beanstalk

39.This is the S3 bucket that was created by Elastic Beanstalk. You may click on the upload sign to upload anything.

40.This is the Auto-Scaling group that was created by Elastic Beanstalk

When you create Elastic Beanstalk, it creates some other resources by itself.

Steps To Converting Your Virtual Machine To Virtual Machine Scale Set (VMSS)

What is a Virtual Machine Scale Set (VMSS)?
A Virtual Machine Scale Set is a resource that allows you deploy and manage a set of identical Virtual Machines.

Virtual Machine Scale Set is a way to create many Virtual Machines with the same configuration.

A Virtual Machine Scale Set can scale in or out base on the need.

Some of the features you enjoy when you use Virtual Machine Scale Set are Load balancing, High availability and Auto-scaling.

WAYS TO CREATE VIRTUAL MACHINE SCALE SET

There are two ways in which Virtual Machine Scale Set can be created in Azure portal. Firstly, you can type Virtual Machine Scale Set to search bar of your Azure Portal, select it (Virtual Machine Scale Set) and start creating. The second way to create a Virtual Machine Scale Set is by replicating an existing Virtual Machine.

In this article, we are going to learn how to create a Virtual Machine Scale Set by replicating an existing Virtual Machine.

Firstly, we are going to create an an Azure compute gallery.

How to create an Azure compute gallery
1.Type Azure compute gallery to the search bar of your Microsoft Azure portal and select Azure compute galleries

2.Click +create button

3.Select the Resource group your Virtual Machine was kept because the Azure compute gallery and your Virtual Machine must be in the same Resource group

4.Give the compute gallery a name. in this article, we are going to name it holigallery

5.Click Review + Create

6.Validation passed will be shown on your screen, then click create

7.Wait for your screen to display deployment is complete then click
Go to resource

8.Click Microsoft Azure at the left top corner of your screen to go back and open the VM we want to replicate

9.Click Capture and select image

10.Click the dropdown sign and select the gallery you want to put the image

11.For the Operating System state, we are choosing Specialized
Specialized: This means that a user does not need a password and username before the VM can be used.
Generalized: Password and username are needed to use the VM

12.Click create new to give a name to the new VM then click OK

13.Come to version details and give it a version number. Note: the version number must take this format 0.0.1 or 0.0.2 or 15.35.0 and so on

14.Click Review + create

15.Wait for it to show Validation passed then click create

16.Wait for the deployment to complete then click Go to resource

17.Click +create VMSS

18.Come t Scale set details and give your Virtual Machine Scale Set a name.

19.Select an Orchestration mode the Orchestration modes are Flexible and Uniform

Flexible: It is highly available with multiple and identical Virtual Machines.
Uniform: It is good for large scale stateless workloads. That is, it is designed to handle lots of simple independent work that don't need to keep track of anything.

In this article, we are going to select Flexible

20.Click Review + create

21.Wait till Validation passed is shown on your screen then click create

22.Wait for your deployment to complete and click Go to resource

23.Congratulations! your Virtual Machine Scale Set is ready

Now that you have created a Virtual Machine Scale Sets, it is important to create a Load balancer with it because a Virtual Machine Scale Set is not complete without a Load balancer

What is the work of a Load balancer?

A Load balancer distributes incoming traffic across multiple Resources and it ensures that no Virtual Machine is overwhelmed.
Load balancer improves availability, it ensures no single point of failure.
Load balancer boost performance by spreading traffic and reduce load on any resource.
Load balancer scales easily. It increases Resources when the traffic is high and reduces Resources when the traffic is low.

How to add a Load balancer to a Virtual Machine Scale Set
1.Go to the overview of your VMSS and click Networking, select Load balancing

2.Click +add load balancing and select create new but you can select add existing if you had created a Load balancer before.

3.Give a name to the Load balancer, fill in the frontend and the backend port and click create

A Step-By-Step Guide To Creating An EC2 Instance In AWS

What is an EC2 instance?

An EC2 instance (Elastic Compute Cloud) is a Virtual Server provided by AWS (Amazon Web Services) it allows user to run applications and workloads in the cloud with scalable computing capacity.

Now, follow these simple steps to learn how to create an EC2 instance in AWS.

1.Open your AWS Console and type EC2 to the search bar and select the first option from the list of the options it displays.

2.Click launch instance

3.Give it a name, but in this article, we are going to name it Oyinserver

4.Click add additional tags to add the tags

5.Add the tags

Scroll down to where you have the Application and OS image (Amazon image)

6.Select an image (OS) from the list of images displayed. In this article, I'm going to select Windows

7.Create down and select create key pair

8.Give the key pair a name and click create key pair

9.scroll down a little and tick HTTP

10.Click Launch instance

11.Successfully initiated launch of instance will be displayed on your screen

12.Click connect to instance

13.Click RDP client

14.Scroll down and click get password

15.Click upload private key file and select the key pair you downloaded

16.Scroll down and click Decrypt password

Copy the password to your clipboard because it will be needed

17.Now, click download remote desktop file to connect

18.Click the desktop file downloaded from the top right conner of your screen (The download icon) and click connect

19.Paste the password you had already copied to your clipboard and click connect

20.Click yes

Wow! this is great, you just created an EC2 instance in AWS

How To Create A Windows server Like a Pro

What is Windows Server? A Windows Server is a type of computer operating system that is designed to manage and provide services to other computers on a network.
Windows Servers helps Organizations Share files and resources, Host website and applications, Manage user account and security, also to store and manage data.

Windows Server is like a super powerful computer that helps big organizations and companies store and manage their important files, websites, and applications. It's like a librarian for computers, keeping everything organized and running smoothly, so people can access what they need quickly and securely. In this article, we'll explore what Windows Server is, how it works, and how it can be created even if you are a beginner.

Now, join me to learn how to create a Windows Server.

1.Open your Microsoft Azure Portal and type Virtual Machine to the search bar and select "Virtual Machines"

2.Click the +create button and select Virtual Machine

3.On the Basics tab, click on the dropdown sign to select a Resource group if you had created one before but if you have not created a Resource group before, click create new to create one.

4.Give your virtual machine a name, click on the dropdown icon and select and select Region . For availability options, click the dropdown sign to select one, but we are going to select "No infrastructure redundancy required" because we are using a Microsoft Azure free trial account. for the Security type we will pick standard and for the Image, select Windows Servers 2025 or Windows 2022 depending on your choice. NOTE: It is the image that differentiate a Windows 10/11 from a Windows Server.

5.For the availability zone, you can pick more than one, the VM will be replicated across multiple zones.

6.click the dropdown to select a suitable size for your VM

7.Under Administrator account, give your VM a name, password and confirm the password.

For inbound port rule, chose HTTP.

9.Now come to monitoring, under monitoring, if you don't want Microsoft to be aware of your activities on your VM, you are going to disable diagnostic.

10.The next thing to do now is to go to tags Tags helps you identify a Virtual Machine that is owned by a department.

11.Now, lets go to Review + create

12.Your screen will show validation passed and the subscription credit that apply.

13.Now click create

Click Go to resource

15.Wow! you just created a Windows Server. This is what your Windows Server looks like.

16.Go to the public IP address and increase the timeout, this will not make your Machine to suddenly disconnect while working

17.By default, it 4 so increase it to 30. click on the line and drag it to 30, do not forget to save

18.Go to the overview of the Virtual Machine and click the name of your Virtual Machine

19.Click connect

20.Click download RDP file. Click the download icon at the top right corner of your screen, two boxes will be displayed, click on the first one from the right hand side.

21.Click connect and click OK

22.Your Machine has started connecting

23.Enter your password and click OK

24.You are now in your Windows Server Virtual Machine

25.Now, we are going to install IIS(Web Server) on it. Come down to the search bar of your Windows Server and type Powershell then right click on Windows Powershell.

26.After right clicking on Windows Powershell, select Run as administrator and put this command on it _install-WindowsFeature-name web-server-includeManagementTools
_

27.Your screen will show start installation and latter shows success after it has finally installed.

28.It is important we verify we actually installed the IIS(Web Server). To verify it, go to the Virtual Machine and copy the IP Address, place it in a browser and click Enter

Fantastic!, you have created a Windows Server, you have installed IIS (Web sever) on it and you have just verified if the IIS (Web server) was actually installed.

How To Dissociate And Associate The Public IP Address Of Your Virtual Machine To Save Cost

Look at the Status of this Virtual Machine in the picture below, you will discover that the Status is Running, leaving your Virtual Machine in this kind of state when not in use can lead to outrageous charges from your cloud service provider. Now, let us learn how to disconnect the public IP address of our Virtual Machine so as to save cost.

1.Click the IP address of your Virtual Machine

2.Click the Overview of the IP address

3.Click Dissociate

4.Click yes

Your Public IP address has been successfully Dissociated from your Virtual Machine.

Now that you have Dissociated the Public IP address of your Virtual machine, you must Associate it the next time you want to use it before it can be useable.
Now, we ae going to learn how to Associate the public IP address of a Virtual Machine.

HOW TO ASSOCIATE THE PUBLIC IP ADDRESS OF A VIRTUAL MACHINE

1.On the HOME page of your Microsoft Azure Portal, type Public IP address to the search bar and select Public IP Address

2.The page that has all the Virtual Machine you had created will come up, click the name of the Virtual Machine you want to Associate it Public IP address.

3.Click Associate

4.Click the first dropdown and select Network interface

5.Click the second dropdown and select the name of the Virtual Machine and its Resource group

6.Click OK

How To Attach A Data Disk To A Virtual Machine And How To Initialize It

What is a data disk? A data disk is a storage disk attached to a computer or virtual machine(VM) for the purpose of storing data.
A data disk is different from the OS disk, the data disk can be added or removed and it can also be resized independently.

Now, let us learn how we can attach a data disk to a Virtual Machine in few simple steps.

1.Come to the overview of your Virtual Machine and click settings and select disk

2.Your screen will display OS disk and Data disk. Click +create and attach a new disk

3.Come down to LUN (Logical Unit Number)
(a)select a number.
(b)Give your disk a name
(c)Go to size (GiB) to select a size
(d)Click Apply

4.Your screen will display creating a data disk follow by successfully created a data disk and follow by Updated virtual machine

Wow! you just learn how to attach a data disk to a virtual machine.

HOW TO INITIALIZE A DATA DISK

Adding a data disk to a Virtual is not enough but it must also be Initialized before it can be usable.

What does it mean to initialize a data disk?
Initializing a data disk means preparing and making it ready for use.

The following steps explain how a data disk is initialized

1.Come down to the Search bar at the left Corner of virtual Machine and type disk and select create and format hard disk partitions

2.Click OK to initialize your data disk

You still can't use it because it is still showing unallocated. scroll up, right click on the disk and *select new simple volume *

4.Click Next
5.Click Next
6.Click Next

7.Now it says perform a quick format. This where we are going to format the data disk.
Give your disk a name. in this article, we are going to name it disk1 then, click next

8.Click finish This is the final stage. You have successfully added a data disk to your Virtual Machine, you have initialized it and the data disk is now Healthy and ready for use.

Easy Steps To Creating A Windows 10 Virtual Machine In Azure

What is a virtual machine? A virtual machine is an invisible version of a physical computer.
A virtual machine is a virtual computer that is created inside a HOST computer, the creation of virtual machine is possible through the help of a technology called virtualization.

What is virtualization? Virtualization is having a physical Computer which serves as the HOST and many Computers are created in virtual form inside it (the HOST COMPUTER) each computer that is created inside the host computer can function separately with separate Operating System (OS).

Now, lets embark on the creation of Windows 10 Virtual Machine.

1.In your Microsoft Azure Portal, type Virtual Machine to the search bar, and select Virtual Machines from the options it displays.

2.Click +create and select Virtual Machine

It will bring you to the Basics tab

Project details
3.Click create new to create a Resource group, give your Resource group a name and click OK. You can also click the dropdown sign to select a Resource group if you had created one earlier.

Instance details
4.(a)Give you Virtual Machine a name.
(b)Select region
(c)For availability options, select "No infrastructure redundancy required" (This is because we are using a free Microsoft Azure account)
(d)The images is the Operating System (OS) so we are going to select Windows 10
(e) Select standard for the security type

Administrator account
5.(a)Put your user name
(b)Put your password and confirm it

Inbound port rules
6.By default, the inbound port rules is RDP3389 so you are going to select HTTP80

7.Tick the small box in Licensing

8.Now, go and click monitoring

9.Under Monitoring go and disable the Diagnostic disabling the diagnostic will prevent your cloud service provider from knowing what you are doing on your VM

10.Click Review + Create

11.Wait for it validate. After it has validated, it will show validation passed and subscription credit apply

12.Your screen will show deployment in progress, wait for the deployment to complete, when it shows "Your deployment is complete" Click go to resource

13.This is the Windows 10 Virtual Machine you just created. Now, click the IP address to increase the idle timeout from 4 minutes to 30 minutes so your Virtual Machine will not log you out while working on it.

14.Drag the small circle from left to right to increase the idle timeout to 30 minutes and save.

15.Click the name of your Virtual Machine on the overview to go back to it

16.To connect to your Windows 10, click connect

17.Click download RDP file

Click the download icon at the right conner of your screen and click the first box from the right to connect.

18.Click connect

19.Put your password and click OK

20.Click yes

21.Wow! this is superb, your Windows 10 Virtual Machine is ready

22.Click Accept

23.You are fully welcome to your Windows 10 Virtual Machine, Click continue

What is Linux Virtual Machine A Linux Virtual Machine is an invisible Computer that uses the Linux Operating system (OS) and runs on a physical Computer which serves as the host.

Do you want to use a Linux alongside your present Operating System? following the steps you are going to learn in this article will help you achieve that.

Now follow me step by step as I walk you through how to create a Linux Virtual Machine.

1.Type Virtual Machine to the search bar and click Virtual Machines

2.Click +create and select Virtual Machine

3.On the Basics tab, you are going to create a resource group or select the one you have created earlier. To create a new resource group, click create new give your resource group a name and click OK, you can also click the dropdown sign to select a resource group you earlier created

4.(a)Give your Virtual Machine a name
(b)Click the dropdown icon and select region
(c)Click the dropdown icon and select availability options but in this article, we are selecting "No infrastructure redundancy required" because we are using an Azure free trial account

5.(a)Security type: Click the dropdown sign to select a security type but we are selecting standard due to the Azure free trial account that we are using
(b)The image is the Operating System (OS) so click the dropdown sign and select Ubuntu NOTE: Ubuntu and Linux are the same.

6.Administrator account Here we are going to select authentication type but in this article, we are selecting password.
(a)Select password
(b)Put your user name
(c)Put your password and confirm it

7.Inbound port rule Select "Allow selected ports"
By default, Select inbound port is SSH(22) click the dropdown sign and add HTTP(80) to it

8.Now, let's go to Monitoring

9.Disable the Diagnostic Disabling the Diagnostic does not allow your cloud service provider to have access to your work

10.Now got to Tags The tags helps to identify the department that owns a Virtual Machine for the purpose of accountability.
After filling the *tags * click Review + create

11.Wait for the screen to show validation passed

12.Click create to deploy your Virtual Machine

Wait for it to deploy

13.After it shows deployment is complete, click go to resource

14.Bravo! this is the Virtual Machine you just created, click on the public IP to increase the idle timeout

15.By default, the idle timeout is 4 minutes, click this line and drag it to 30 minutes and save

Click the name of your VM on the overview and go back to your Virtual Machine

16.Let's connect with our Linux Virtual Machine now. Click connect.

17.Copy this command and paste it in PowerShell and click enter, it will ask are you sure you want to connect? type yes and click enter

Here is it, you have successfully connected to your Linux Virtual Machine

18.Before you can do anything in your Linux VM, you must be a root user. that is, you must be in charge and the command to be a root user is sudo su. put sudo su and click enter

19.Congratulations, you are now a root user of the Linux VM you just created

20.The next thing is to update the Linux VM and the command to use is "apt update" put apt update and click enter. voila! your VM has successfully updated

21.Let us install Nginx on the server, the command to use is "apt install nginx -y and click Enter

22.Check the status to see if it's running with this command "systemctl status nginx. you can see the status is active (running)

23.Now copy the IP address of your VM and put it in a browser, this is how to do it Http:IP address and click enter.
This is what you will see after putting the IP address of your VM in a browser.

How To Create A Storage For A Public Website

In this blog, we are going to learn how to create a storage account for a public website and we are going to configure simple settings in the storage account but before we go deeper, it is important to understand what a storage account is and what a public website is.

What is a storage account? A storage account is a digital space in the cloud for keeping and managing data .

What is a public website? A public website is a website that is open to the general public. It is a website that can be accessed by members of the general public, it can be accessed by anyone with internet connection without needing an authentication or password.

Now, let us learn how to create a storage account.

1.In the Microsoft Azure portal, search and select "storage account"

2.Select +create

3.It will bring you to the Basics tab. In this place, we are going to learn another way to create a Resource group. Now, select "Create new" give your Resource group a name and select ok

Leave others as default

4.Select Review+create

5.Wait for the storage account to validate, after it has validated, click "create"

6.Wait for it to deploy then click "Go to resource"

7.To ensure high availability incase of regional outage, enable read access to the secondary region.
In the storage account, in the storage account, in the data management section, select the redundancy blade

8.Click the dropdown icon and select "Read access Geo redundant Storage"

9.Information on the public website should be accessible without requiring customers to log in.
in the storage account, in the settings section, select the configuration blade and enable "Allow blob anonymous access" and then save your changes

How To Create A Blob Storage Container With Anonymous Read Access
10.In your storage account, in the data storage section, select the containers blade.

11.Select +Add container

12.Give your container a name and click "create"

13.Customers should be able to view the images without being authenticated. So we are going to configure "Anonymous read access" for the public. Select your public container

14.On the overview page, select "change access level"

15.Make sure the public access level is Blob (anonymous read access for blobs only) then select ok

Practice Uploading Files And Testing Access
For testing, upload a file to the public container, the type of file does not matter a small image is ok.

16.Ensure you are viewing your container now. Select upload, click browse to files and double click on an image you would like to upload, then click upload

You have successfully uploaded an image into the cloud.
How do you know you have uploaded a file?

Select the uploaded file

18.Copy the URL of the image and place it in a browser to see the image you have uploaded.

*Configure soft delete *

19.It is important that the website's documents can be restored if the are deleted. Configure blob soft delete for 21 days.
Now, go to the overview page of your container, click on it and click
enabled (7 days)

You can see that soft delete has been enabled with the ticked blue box. Now change the 7 to 21, you can also do the same thing for containers and click save

21.If something gets deleted, you need to practice using soft delete to restore it.
Go to your container where the file was uploaded, select the file you uploaded and then select delete.

22.Click delete

We have successfully deleted the file that was uploaded, now let us learn how to recover it.

How to undelete
Come to the left side of your screen and click the dropdown icon and select "show active and deleted blobs"

Now, click the ellipses by the right side of your screen to undelete the file.

How to enable versioning
From the overview page, Go to blob service and enable versioning and save

Enable it and click save

In today's fast IT environment, testing ad training require efficient and scalable storage solutions. Azure Blob and File storage offer a robust and cost-effective way to manage data for these environments. By leveraging
Azure's cloud base storage services, IT teams can quickly provision and access large amount of data, streamlining testing and training processes.

What is Azure Blob storage? Azure Blob storage is a digital space in the cloud where unstructured data is kept. Examples of unstructured data are images, videos, music, files etc.

What is File Storage? Azure file storage is the storing of files in the cloud in a way that the files are accessed from a remote computer from anywhere with internet connection.

Now, let us learn how to create a Resource group.

1.Firstly, we are going to create a resource group, in the Microsoft Azure portal, search and select "Resource group"

2.Select +create and it will bring you to the Basics tab.

3.On the Basics tab, give your resource group a name and select region

4.Select Review+create

Wait for it to validate

5.Now, click Create to deploy the Resource group

You have just created a resource group.

Now we are going to create and deploy a storage account
1.In the Azure portal, search for and select storage account

2.Select +create and it will bring you to the Basics tab

3.On the Basics tab, select the resource group you created earlier and give your storage account a name (the name of storage account must be unique)

4.Set the performance to standard

5.Select Review+create

Wait for it to validate

6.Come down to the left side of your screen and click Create

7.Wait for the storage account to deploy. When your screen displays "deployment is complete" click Go to resource

8.At this stage, your storage account is displayed, this the storage account you just created.

Now, let us configure simple settings in the storage account
9.Select locally redundant storage in the redundancy dropdown. NOTE: anything in locally redundant storage will not be highly available.

10.Do not forget to save it

11.Refresh the page to be sure the content only exist in the primary location.

According to this picture below, we can see that the only location is West US2

12.Ensure the storage account only accepts requests from secure connections. Click the overview to go back to the storage account

13.Scroll down to settings Click configuration and click enable

14.Developers would like the storage account to use at least TLS version 1.2, in the settings section, select the configuration blade and set the TLS minimal version to 1.2

15.Until the storage account is needed again, disable request to the storage account. In the settings section, select the configuration blade and disable "allow storage account key access" then save your changes

16.The storage account must allow public access from all networks. In "security + networking" section, select the networking blade. Ensure the public network access is set to enable from all networks, then save your changes
