Setting your detailed target audience on Ad Manager

In Facebook ad creation, audience targeting falls in the New ad set stage, i.e the second stage of the ad setup on Ad Manager, the result of the campaign ad is somewhat dependent on the audience targeting as well because the general aim of running ad is to reach out to the business audience. However, before embarking on this task of setting up an ad on Facebook, we need to first:

Create a detailed Audience analysis report for your brand Set up your Professional Facebook page, and add all necessary business information like phone number, contact address, and business description. You can now proceed to your Ad Manager on your account. Ensure that your main Facebook account is allowed to run ads. Whichever account you’ll want to use, you can verify this by clicking on ad manager/create ad, it will display a drop box of caution if it is restricted, if not, then you’re good to go.

Now, moving on to the audience set- The ad IDE(Integrated development environment) is in 3 phases which are; campaign name, Ad set name, and Ad name. The audience setting will be done on the Ad set name category, Procedures are:

Click on edit audience In alignment with your already made audience analysis, set those whom your ad campaign is targeting, and select the right gender, and age.

Select the location you’ll like to display your ad to. Move on to a detailed targeting audience, here you can make wide changes to your audience, by browsing the interest, behavior, and demography of people as regards your brand. That’s why knowing much about your audience is crucial to generating results. During the process of editing your detailed targeting audience, the slide by the right-side corner updates as any changes are made. Note that if the slide displays audience unavailable, it means that you have made the wrong editing of audience and your ads will not be shown to the right audience.

All you need to do is to go back to editing the detailed targeting audience to re-edit or click on the performance per goal option to select the right option that best suits your campaign.

Of course, your ad campaign requires enough knowledge and experience before it can perform well. As a newbie, you keep learning and practicing to become better.
Hope this is impact? you can add your view in the comment session. Thank you.

Facebook ad challenges, the why and the way out.

It is no news that Facebook is strict with its policies, and as such, more care should be exerted when running the ad. Based on my experience so far, I would be sharing two out of the numerous challenges I was able to navigate through. Adding payment method for the ad.

Firstly, it is important to know that adding a payment option could be sensitive and requires knowledge. Steps to add a payment method and refund.

Step 1: Log on through your desktop device, go to your Facebook account →Ads manager → on your ad manager account, click on billing to see if the currency is being set as preferred, if not, you can either change the currency to dollar or naira.

Step2. You can now add a payment method and save your details.

Note: Do not make the mistake of adding payment details before changing the currency. Change currency first before adding payment method and you’re good to go, else, it may disable your entire ad account and that would take another long process

Step3: you can then refund your account. This is done by clicking on refund →add card details, this can be done using PayU payment, it will redirect you to another site where the fee can be finally made.

Choosing a preferred time objective**: It is also important to note that there are various objectives to see in the first stage of running the ads. The objectives option is the next thing to see after clicking on the Ads Manager. Facebook offers various objective options such as brand awareness, reach, engagement, traffic, conversions, and more.

Choosing the right objective requires a clear understanding of your campaign goals and the desired outcomes.

Algorithm optimization**: Facebook's algorithm optimizes ad delivery based on the selected objective. However, the effectiveness of the algorithm can vary depending on the objective chosen. As an advertiser, you may face challenges in understanding how the algorithm works for their selected objective and optimizing their campaigns accordingly which is why it is necessary to note the goal of the ad. Another way out of this hitch is to highlight every objective one after the other to learn more about it.

Audience's targeting: Depending on the objective you choose, Facebook's ad targeting options may vary. Certain objectives may have restrictions or limitations on audience targeting, making it challenging to reach a specific subset of your target audience. Choosing the right objective option also affects budget allocation rate, measurement, and tracking. For example, if your major goal of the campaign is to get more people to click on your link or website link, then, be on the lookout to select traffic as the objective option. With traffic objective, you can select link clinks from the delivery option and you will be able to see the number of link clicks once your ad is running.

To overcome these challenge's, it is crucial to thoroughly understand your campaign goals, evaluate available options, experiment with different objectives, closely monitor campaign performance, and make data-driven adjustments to optimize your Facebook advertising strategy. To be continued...
I hope this is insightful. Let me know your view.

What is new on Figma

What is new Figma
Figma just added the Native spell check feature now available in FigmaJam that makes it easier to type words correctly instead of looking it up in the dictionary. This is an amazing feature that saves the designer mental stress and time. You can perform some of these mentioned below using the native spell check tool:

Find and fix past spelling errors by selecting a text box and entering text edit mode

Use of spell check in any language supported on your operating system

Fix spelling errors in mean time before moving further during editing

Add words to your personal dictionary to prevent them from being flagged by spell check. Figma keeps re-designing how teams work to aid collaboration of new ideas and innovative designs.

Team and Projects Transfer: Customers can collaborate confidently with companies to transfer projects, likewise, companies and agencies can now transfer teams and projects from one company to another. For example, if you work at an agency, you can transfer assets to a client after work has completed.

Speed up prototype creation:You can create connection from multiple components to the same destination frame at once, saving time and effort when building out your prototype flows. To get this done, highlight multiple starting hotspots on your design, then click and drag the + icon to the destination.

Figma has been a design tool used to leverage on the entire design process. It’s a web-based interface design tool that promotes designing, enhances collaboration, iteration and documentation throughout throughout the design process. There’s always a new feature released every year due to the need for improvement and creativity.
Let’s anticipate for new features in the coming year.

Figma VS Adobe

Yeah! You might have been wondering which is better or preferrable, Figma or Adobe XD? Figma and Adobe XD are widely known as software design tools used by designers and developers. These tools perform same tasks. In spite of that, some people tend to choose one over the other, perhaps due to their distinct features.

Figma and Adobe XD are online design tools usually used by developers and UI/UX designers in the tech industry. It’s a software tool widely used by UI designers to carry out their design work with the aid of unlimited plugins, design mockups, and design special features.
Now, let’s check out the similarities and differences between the two.

Figma and Adobe XD are design tools but Figma requires internet connection for its use While Adobe XD requires no internet connection. Hence, Adobe XD is cheaper for users to access
Both tools have same features and components in common but different working interface. Figma has the specs embedded within the file, and offers different types of specs such as web, iOS & Android, while that of Adobe XD has separate spec sheets that you can easily publish as a link for people to access.
Figma has always been used on its main site i.e it’s cloud-based, so you’ll need to be connected to the internet to access it at figma.com. Until recently when the desktop and mobile application version was developed, it used to be only available for MacOS and Windows users. Adobe XD on the other hand does not necessarily need internet connection but has a desktop application.

As for me, Figma has been my best and regularly used tool for UI design. The simplicity and easiness are the uniqueness that make it my default tool — and guess what? — that is what larger percentage of UI/UX designers use as well. Its collaborative feature of team members to work together on a project without having to download the file is a great feature compared to Adobe XD that lacks collaboration.

Another interesting feature about Figma is that, you do not always need to activate your internet connectivity while designing on it, meanwhile, not all the features can be used offline. All you need is put it on at first> save your project> deactivate the internet connection and keep on working. Whenever you are done, Figma will store any changes you make in your browser and sync them. When you’re back online, Figma will notify you at the bottom of your screen that your file has unsaved changes. In my coming posts, I will write on available features online and offline on Figma.

Figma has won in virtually all ranking features. In my own opinion, I’ve found Figma a very easy and flexible tool to use than Adobe XD. Researching more about Figma collaboration community interests me more as a UI/UX designer.
Thanks for reading.
Prototyping in Figma

Prototyping is usually employed in software building, through testing of the overall design, by checking its functionalities and performance before being launched for real life use.
Prototyping in Figma involves testing the functionalities of the design app for effective usability and enjoyability. It involves interactive flows that explore how a user may interact with your designs.

How to use the Prototype feature in Figma
**Step 1: **Launch the Figma app version

**Step 2: **You should have the whole website design which you want to prototype right in front of you.

Step 3: Assuming you have 3 mobile frames which you want to prototype, the flow should be based on ease and use and not just your own impulse. For example, the prototype flow could begin from the home icon to signup to keyboard to order icon to pay icon to send icon- (this could differ based on the model you have made)

Step 4: Once you have the design right in front of you, move up the cursor to where you have the prototype feature, which is next to Design.

Step 5: Click on it, then some options would appear such as Trigger, and On click. Decide on the mode of design flow you want and begin the process. I, however, suggest master component feature for speeding up prototyping connections.

Step 6: Once you have linked up every of the important icons/features on the design in such a way that each icon will lead the user to another icon on clicking any of them, then, click on done.

Step 7: Once done, you can now copy the prototype link and send it out to your client or your team in order to test-run its performance.

As a product designer, you can now keep calm and expect a feedback from your client to give a remark or corrections required.
Prototyping is of great benefit but requires you as a product designer to be very attached and knowledgeable about the overall design you have done. One needs to study well the work flow and be more empathetic about the design.
So many product designers use prototype framework in testing their work which reduces the stress of recreation and eliminates redundancy in design.
You can compare:
Wireframing in UI/UX

WIREFRAMING IN UI/UX
In my previous article about UI/UX for beginners, the article discussed the early stages in UI/UX, important key-notes, and procedures to start.
In this article, we shall be explaining about wireframing in UI.
Wireframing: This refers to the initial process involved in building an API.

Before an app is designed, the UI designer would decide on how the app should look, mostly considering usability by targeted users, and wants of the client . The designer would sketch out the design manually or digitaly on a computer.

Fig. 1.0 shows the combination of desktop and mobile wireframing.

Some wireframing tools include
UXpin
AdobePhotoshop
Mockplus
Justinmind
Ninjamock
Mockflow
Invision free-hand( for collaboration on a white-board like canva)

Furthermore, one can choose to sketch the flow of the design on a paper; for example, in sketching a full website for a company, it’s necessary one sketches the look of the Homepage, Aboutpage, ContactUs, et.c. Alternatively one can also have the sketch done using wireframing tool on Figma or Adobe XD platform.
The UI designer must have it tucked somewhere in his subconsciousness that users comes first so that icons, components, and features are placed such that using it becomes seamless and easy. Comformity to real-life workflow is from the integral purpose and essence of wireframing.

ADVANTAGES OF WIREFRAMING

Wireframing has several advantages that makes the workflow easier for the designer. It helps to pave an easy and clear path of what the design would look like.
Few of the advantages are:

Helps to refine navigation: for example, a typical wireframes done well helps user to be able to test-run it by checking if the positioning of other components and features won’t disrupt its usability.

**It makes content development more effective
: Wireframing offers all necessary content effectiveness. For example, once the wireframing is done, one can correct any abnormally in text alignment, font size, and images.

Makes the design process iterative: wireframing serves as process in design elements in which all layouts and functionalities are distinguished in the wireframe rather than having them all in a single design like the completion of an application.

It makes the design work faster and easier:

It reduces errors and mistakes in design

It gives better insight of the workflow/design to be done.

UI/UX DESIGN FOR BEGINNERS

Starting a journey in UI/UX for any newbie could be a bit challenging due to the fact that it is a novel skill. Do not worry. Here are some useful notes that will help you and, of course, prepare you well for this journey.

I would not have prepared you well for this journey if I do not bring to bare what UI/UX connotes. UI/UX means User Interface/User experience. It is a skill that involves putting components, elements, texts and other features together for the purpose of defining, ideating and creating a typical web or mobile design structure. One can think about user interface to be the beauty of the design while user experience can be thought of as the functionality and usability of the design.

Any application design you see has gone through quite a lot of design thinking processes that include:
Empathy
Ideation
Prototype
Test
Empathy: This is the ability of the designer to be emotional about what the user needs. The designer should be able to feel and know the needs of users.

Ideation: The UI/UX designer thinks about how the design should flow and what problem to solve.

Prototype: This is the sample of the whole application design usually drafted to see and test how it would work in real life use. It could also be sent to the user for a review. The review of the user is very critical as UI/UX is not merely about colors and components, but is greatly dependent on putting the user first and thinking about what the user needs. The satisfaction derived by the user is also determined by where and how each icons and features are placed.

User Experience should have some basic principles, which are:
• Usable
• Equitable
• Enjoyable
• Useful
Usable: As a UX designer, you must build a design that is usable by the users. It should have all the necessary features such that it is able to fulfil the users need

Equitable: the designer makes sure the whole app is easier to use both on the mobile app and desktop app.

Enjoyable: The design should be one which can be enjoyed by the user during use. It shouldn’t be a complicating and difficult to use app by the user.

Useful: Designs created by the UX designer should not be a dormant one that users can’t use.

Test: This is the stage in which the design is being checked and modeled for its efficiency. It is tested using design tools like Figma or Adobe XD. At this testing stage, the design goes through three stages: internal test within your company; reviews with stakeholders; and external test with potential users. (Note: a stakeholder is a person you need to work with to complete the project or anyone who has some interest in the project.)

New technologies are coming up virtually every day likewise mockup tool kits for Figma, therefore it is imperative to be informed and be updated about these new technologies.

It was in the ninth month of 2020. I received a mail that I had been selected for the first stage of an interview process. It was news I wasn’t really hoping for as the submission deadline was the same day.

A 30secs video pitch was among the requirement for the first interview process. I was quite nervous but optimistic. Many thoughts ran through my mind as I did not know what would come out of it.

I began to make necessary preparations for the pitch as well as the online interview questions. The overall time required for the online questionnaire was forty minutes. All answers appeared rightly answered and I was fortunate to reach the next level. I was quite excited.

Now came the time for the video pitch. It was my first formal video pitch. I knew self composure and confidence were key in making the presentation, coupled with harnessing one’s communication skill. I put God first and began.
The focus of the pitch was to answer two logical questions. I rehearsed as much as possible before I made up my mind on the final clip. Now it was the time to click the submit button but, for no apparent reason, the page kept bouncing me back to the initial page of the interview.

I tried many times to figure out the problem. I checked my internet connection, it was strong.I checked if perhaps any segment was missed, but all was intact. Each time it took me back to the initial stage, I had to start afresh. I did this continuously for more than five times, which literally means 40mins multiplied by 5 or more till it got dark.
I was really determined to get the best result.

I was ready to maximize the full six months SIWES program in getting quality knowledge and I knew lots of experience and exposure could be acquired from a tech company like Bincom Dev Center. My passion and love for tech kept pushing me, coupled with the strong desire to succeed, mixed with faith.

I couldn’t make the submission that night. I was gradually losing hope about the process but still somehow trusted the process. That day was meant to be the deadline for submission.

Fast forward, it was the following day in the morning. I couldn’t sleep so tight. I was feeling disturbed but still optimistic. I summoned the strength to make another attempt. I made it up to the last stage and was able to make the final submission. I knew my submission was late but faith kept me on.

The following week, an email message popped up on my mobile phone: ‘’Congratulations! You have been shortlisted for the first stage of the preliminary test…’’
I was agitated and immediately did what was requested before the end of that day. It all continued just like that up till the final stage of the interview, an online interview was conducted throughout the process and on the long run, I was eventually selected to commence work in the company.

I thought of all hurdles being met along the way and how I was able to persevere. Even the challenges faced from onset while applying for the position on Linkedin could not be left untold. I had a very low battery during the application, doubting if the battery level would complete the application process. On clicking the last submission button, my battery level was 1%. I was lucky enough that the phone went off immediately after submission. It wasn’t an easy task because during the one month internal training, there were times my subscription got exhausted and would be left with nothing. I had borrowed cash from people during this training just to get along.

All praise to Allah, I can boldly say that my Digital Marketing knowledge and ability is beyond just a beginner as I started, but now in the Intermediate level. I can confidently use some SEO tools for site optimization, develop captivating marketing content for a brand, and make quality marketing videos, amongst others.

Lastly I would forever appreciate Bincom Dev Center for having given me the opportunity to facilitate 3 different cohorts on Fundamentals of Digital Marketing during my programme by teaching what I know.

A final note: Never give up on what good you desire for, keep pushing, have faith and your success is right before you.
Thanks for reading.
