What would I do without my Bella? Today I pondered this thought more than I should have. The realization that I will someday lose my best friend kind of shattered my world and the realization of how little time we actually have stuck with me today.
It was an unexpected friendship to say the least. We were never meant to be… but, apparently some higher power knew we were. Chihuahua’s were never really my thing. I had always pretty much stuck with the general consensus of “annoying ankle biters” for most of my life.
One day an older friend of mine’s dog had puppies. He had three Chihuahua’s of his own that I knew all too well, and this even discouraged me MORE from ever owning one. One day when we were hanging out, he was showing me them like “look how cute!”
Mind you, this is a burly and rough around the edges town drunkard type of fellow. One you would definitely pass up and avoid on the street but deep down had a heart of GOLD. Now let me tell you I’m not _ really _ exaggerating when I say my heart melted at the sight of this little puppy.
He told me to take her home to my mom as a present jokingly. I pretty much kidnapped her though in my mind. Slid her right in my coat pocket, walked on down the street to her soon to be — unbeknownst to _ him _ and her — owners house.
The plan was for her to go to my mother and she happily obliged at first. Then it became a realization for them that they couldn’t handle another dog after a few weeks of having her. (They already had a Husky / Chow Mix, Beagle, and Pug.)
So I’m pretty sure you know what happens next. BEST friends for life. No doubt dogg.
